4 Q. To your knowledge, did Mr. Lipsitz first
5 find out about the Ponzi scheme when the news broke in
6 the press about the time you fled to Morocco?
7 A. I don't have any idea.
8 Q. Now, do you recall testifying that you were
9 also investing in legitimate businesses so that you
10 could use those businesses to pay back the investors
11 of the Ponzi scheme?
12 A. That was part of the ultimate exit strategy,
13 yes, sir.
14 Q. And one of those legitimate businesses was
15 Cafe Iguana in Pembroke Pines, correct?
16 A. Yes, sir.
17 Q. Did you receive distribution or salary or
18 cash or other remuneration from that business?
19 A. For a period of time, yes, sir.
20 Q. What did you receive, distribution, salary,
21 cash or all of the above?
22 A. Distributions. I may have received some
23 cash from time to time when we needed cash, but the
24 bulk of the money came through checks, through
25 distributions.
