State Profile – AP vs. INDIA<br />
A P is the 4 th largest State in <strong>India</strong> with 275068 Sq. Km area, accounting for 8.37% of net <strong>India</strong>’s 32, 87, 263 Sq.km<br />
area.<br />
A P’s net irrigated area is 4.82 Million Hectares, accounting for 8.82 % of the <strong>India</strong>’s net irrigated 62.29 Million<br />
Hectares area.<br />
A P is the 5 th most popular State with projected population of 8.27 Crores as on 1 st March, 2007 accounting for<br />
7.4% of <strong>India</strong>’s 111.75 Crores population.<br />
The net area sown was 10.95Million Hectares , constituting 39.90% of its own geographical area, and accounting<br />
7.7% of <strong>India</strong>’s 140.86 Million Hectares area.<br />
A P has the 2 nd longest coastline with coastline of 974 km, accounting 15.96% of <strong>India</strong>’s mainland coastline of 6100<br />
km.<br />
Andhra Pradesh is blessed with many major rivers, the most important being Godavari, Krishna, Penna and<br />
Vamsadhara.<br />
The energy available for use as on 30.9.2006 is 28,366 M.W. Number of consumers served has increased from 1.73<br />
Crores at the end of March 2006 to 1.77 Crores at the end of September 2006.<br />

There five airports in AP including Hyderabad International Airport at Shamshabad.<br />
There are four major ports in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Horticulture<br />
A.P. is endowed with varied agro-climatic conditions for growing a variety of horticulture crops like fruits,<br />
vegetables, spices, tuber crops, plantation crops and floriculture.<br />
An area of about 16.49 lakh Hectares is under various horticulture crops with an estimated production of<br />
143.87 lakh Tones of horticulture produce and 88.50 lakh cut flowers.<br />
A.P. holds :<br />
1 st position in production of mango, mosambi, lime, papaya, chillies, and turmeric.<br />
2 nd in tomato and coriander<br />
3 rd in pomegranate,<br />
4 th in tapioca, bendi and grapes<br />
5 th in banana, sapota and onion.<br />
Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Govt. of <strong>India</strong> have jointly set up 4 agri. export zones in the state.

RIPENING CHAMBER – AVAILING FINANCIAL BENIFITS<br />
UNDER <strong>STATE</strong> HORITICULTURE MISSION<br />
Step 1<br />
Beneficiary should approach local officer ( H.O) with the proposal to get Application Form -- Attached<br />
Step 2<br />
Approach the Bank with filled up Application Form to get bankers willingness to finance the proposal.<br />
Step 3<br />
Submit all necessary documents and Project Report to the Bank and obtain loan sanction letter.<br />
Step 4<br />
Step 5<br />
Submit Bank sanction letter, application form with project report along with local District Collector approval to<br />
SHM office.<br />
SHM obtains the approval from State Level Executive Committee and forward the documents to NHM for approval<br />
Step6<br />
On Receipt of approval from NHM, Tentative Administrative sanction will be forwarded to the beneficiary by SHM<br />
Step 7<br />
Beneficiary completes Civil Works and installation of the equipment.<br />
Step 8<br />
ADH forwards the completion report along with Bank disbursement statement to SHM office<br />
Step 9<br />
Step 10<br />
SHM office conducts joint inspection and submit the report<br />
Based on the Report the subsidy will be released to the bank, which has sanctioned the loan

Note:<br />
1. Maximum allowed cost is Rs 6,000 per Metric Tonne (Civil works and equipments) and<br />
total capacity of the unit is restricted to 5000 Metric Tones. The total cost of the<br />
project is not more than Rs 3 crores.<br />
2. Eligible Subsidy is 40% of the total Permissible cost and 55% subsidy in case of<br />
beneficiaries from Hilly regions<br />
