Composition
Buildcrete 32,5R is classified as a general purpose cement with early strength gain
characteristics. It conforms to the SANS 50197 (EN 197) specifications in accordance
with SANS 50196 (EN 196) test requirements.
• Lichtenburg Cement Works in North West Province and our Randfontein Grinding Station in
Johannesburg, produce Buildcrete CEM IV/B-V 32,5R, a Pozzolanic cement, formulated from
Portland clinker and quality siliceous fly ash, together with a strength enhancer
• Richards Bay plant produces Buildcrete as a CEM IV/A-V 32,5R Pozzolanic cement. The
formulation is based on quality siliceous fly ash interground with Portland cement clinker,
Benefits of our
innovative formulation
The user-friendly, all-round performance characteristics of Buildcrete
offer a range of extra benefits for concrete and mortar work, making
it an ideal choice for small contractors, DIY enthusiasts as well as
block and bricklayers.
Freshly mixed concrete
• Better workability for easier handling, placing and finishing
• The ‘R’ early strength gain, saving time and money
• More stable mixes that keep coarse aggregates uniformly dispersed
• Improved water retention and less bleeding for better surface finish
• Helping construction: concrete is easier to place with less effort
Concrete in the hardened state
• Better finishes for floor slabs and off-shutter work
• Higher long-term strength and durability
• Better resistance to chemical attack
• Denser concrete with good impermeability
Mortar and plaster
• Easier mixing
• More workable ‘buttery’ mixes
• Easier laying
• Stable structural units achieved sooner
Strength rating
Buildcrete complies with the requirement in the SANS specifications
for a minimum compressive strength ≥32,5MPa (EN prism test
using a water/cement ratio of 0,5) within 28 days of casting.
The ‘R’ classification indicates that Buildcrete will achieve an
early strength at 2 days ≥10,0MPa in accordance with the SANS
specifications.
(An ‘N’ designation refers to a class with ordinary early strength
development.)
Reliable quality
While the Lafarge name is a worldwide assurance of quality, the
Buildcrete bag also displays the following locally regulated quality
symbols:
• LOA number
• SABS mark
• e-mark
Benefits of the 25kg bag
• Fits conveniently in your shopping trolley and your car
• Easier and safer to carry while working on a project
• No wastage - the smaller 25kg bag gives the option of making
different mix quantities without leaving half-used 50kg bags
to go to waste
• Being exactly half the standard 50kg bag makes it easy to
measure out the mix quantities
