What did he do that has resulted in vast importance in today’s Metrology?
Who is the only Slav for which a measurement quantity is named? For what is he famous?
Which measurement quantity is named for him? Define that quantity.
Dynamic electrons have a mass of 5.7 x 10-¹²Kg/amp/sec=1 coulomb=6.29145 x 10^18 electrons.
How long will it take to amass an electron mass of 1Kg?
(A full step-by-step mathematic protocol is required here)
What is Current Density? In what units is it normally expressed? In what units is Linear
Current Density normally expressed? Where and what processes are these measurements
critical?
How much power (in Watts) does it take to cook a hot dog?
(Caution: The correct answer to this question is independent of the mass of the sausage or its physical
dimensions.)
Describe how you would calibrate a leak detector? Enumerate all of the materials and/or devices
used in that procedure.
What is the principal constituent of Acid Rain?
In the US Customary System a Cupful is standardized as 8 ounces. What is the equivalent in
In 1977 the International Electro-Technical Commission (IEC) issued IEC Publication #469-1
internationally standardizing many Time Domain technology terms hitherto fore used colloquially
and imprecisely. A few of these archaic terms are: Risetime; Falltime; Pulse Width;
and Pulse Height. State the now internationally agreed upon term for each of these features
and the rational for the new designation.
After the answers have been evaluated and the awards made, I will publish Dr. Watson’s answers in this
column (September issue).
The Measurement Science Conference for this year has come and gone and you Boss were not there—
we missed you. It was nice to see Dilip get the Woodington Award. Personally I was not so happy with
the venue—too much walking for my worn out knees. I understand that it will be there in Pasadena
again next year and then back to Anaheim again.
Well Boss I think that wraps it up for this issue. Let us hope that cash for correct answers will result in
more response from our readers, please let me know whatever you may hear.
