AGM October 2007<br />

In its report to the Annual General Meeting, October 2007, the Executive Committee highlighted<br />

activities associated with the financial sustainability <strong>of</strong> CSC. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Learning Services<br />

conducted web conferences for various groups with a total <strong>of</strong> over 210 participants. Five LNS<br />

webcasts were delivered; all web design activities were ongoing; a large number <strong>of</strong> project<br />

resources were produced Many CRS projects were ongoing as well, with CRS mentoring the<br />

projects that received TCF grants in 2007, this slated for completion in spring 2008. The<br />

Executive Director gave highlights <strong>of</strong> business development activities, including the honouring<br />

<strong>of</strong> CSC by the LNS.<br />

The theme <strong>of</strong> this year’s Annual Report and Annual Meeting Luncheon for stakeholders was<br />

“Learning…It’s Second Nature”, focusing on CSC’s commitment to promoting a life-long<br />

concern for the environment through education and learning.<br />

December 2007<br />

In December 2007, the Executive Director’s report highlighted a letter <strong>of</strong> interest signed between<br />

CSC and the Canadian Management Centre and presentations to educators from Egypt and the<br />

Hashamite Kingdom <strong>of</strong> Jordan on behalf <strong>of</strong> EDU international relations. Evaluation Services<br />

reported on its Trillium List evaluations and training <strong>of</strong> evaluators, its liaison activities,<br />

additional EDU projects, and supplementary evaluations, noting that a search engine that will<br />

allow for the searching <strong>of</strong> Recommended Resources as well as the teacher developed resources<br />

was under development and would be available soon. In Business Development, CSC received<br />

the contract for receipt and pre-screening <strong>of</strong> the Premier’s Awards for Teachers. CRS, as part <strong>of</strong><br />

its ongoing activities, is comparing the Ontario Physical and Health Education <strong>curriculum</strong> grades<br />

1-12 with <strong>curriculum</strong> in six other jurisdictions as support for the Ministry’s revision to current<br />

<strong>curriculum</strong> policy in this discipline. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Learning Services conducted many web<br />

conferences with a wide range <strong>of</strong> clients (e.g., for the Catholic Principals Council <strong>of</strong> Ontario,<br />

three sessions with 53 participants; for LNS four Literacy sessions and four Numeracy sessions<br />

with a total <strong>of</strong> 153 participants). Highlights in project resource production was a Leading<br />

Student Achievement Teacher Survey (new project) and for Woman Abuse, 5 DVD Modules for<br />

distribution (4000 copies).<br />

February 2008<br />

The February meeting <strong>of</strong> the Board included the CSC Management Team and addressed the<br />

topic <strong>of</strong> government relations and lobbying tactics.<br />

There was no formal meeting, but reports were distributed to the Board as follows: the Executive<br />

Director highlighted the following business development activities: exploration <strong>of</strong> a joint venture<br />

with the Hospital for Sick Children and the Canadian Management Centre, a meeting with the<br />

China Association for International Exchange <strong>of</strong> Personnel to explore how CSC could develop<br />

standards for China to recruit ESL teachers in Canada, and the launch <strong>of</strong> the Curriculum<br />

Foundation private individual fundraising campaign. Evaluation Services reported that the<br />
