Activity 4 Staging the Play: Student Dramatizations
Time: 300 minutes
Description
Student dramatizations are an ideal opportunity for students to discover the play on a new and different
level. In this activity students bring to life one or more scenes depending on the play under study and the
discretion of the teacher. Students are encouraged to adopt a role, while attempting to capture through
their characterization the values and struggles, as well as the nuances of the character portrayed. They
are also challenged to act as directors, displaying Christian leadership while developing a vision for the
scene in question, as well as giving consideration to such things as lighting, sound, costumes, and set.
Students act collaboratively and as successful, respectful communicators in order to make this activity
work.
