that year, he was cast in the New Orleans Jazz
Musical Story ville at the San Diego Repertory
Theatre. Since then, he has been emerging as
a multi-talented performer and is happy to be
here at Cygnet Theatre. Vimel is sponsored

MARTIN
MCDONAGH
(Playwright) was born
in Camberwell, London
land when he was 16, and he stayed in London.
Martin started writing right after he left school.
Most of his early writing consisted of radio
plays and screenplays, until he wrote a series
of theatre plays in 1994/1995 that would bring
success. His plays include The Beauty Queen
of Leenane (1996, nominated for a Tony Award
for Best Play in 1998), The Cripple of Inishmaan
(1996), A Skull in Connemara (1997), The Lonesome
West (1997, nominated for a Tony Award
for Best Play in 1999), The Lieutenant of Inishmore
(2001, nominated for a Tony Award for
Best Play in 2006) and The Pillowman (2003).
The Pillowman won the Laurence Olivier Award
for Best New Play in 2004, and was nominated
for a Tony Award for Best Play in 2005. Films
include Six Shooter (Academy Award for Live
Action Short, 2005), In Bruges (Acadamy
Award nomination for Best Screenplay, 2008),
and the upcoming Seven Psychopaths.
