GRANTS & CONTRACTS Active Living & Complete Streets Program H3 Studio Inc. St. Louis 2006 - present In support of Trailnet developing a public education program for the Healthy & Active Communities Initiative to prevent obesity through the design of the community. We are working with organizations and institutions throughout the St. Louis region to develop and implement policies promoting Active Living in four low-income communities most vulnerable to developing obesity. We are working with community leaders and stakeholders to develop a holistic approach including policy, education, programming, community planning, social marketing and physical projects that support healthy and active lifestyles. The goal is to create community environments that encourage people to be healthy and active. National Endowment for the Arts Grant for the Mayors’ Institute on City Design: Midwest Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design Washington University in St. Louis 2007 – 2008 and 1993 – 1998 The Mayors’ Institute on City Design: Midwest is a National Endowment for the Arts Program to educate city mayors on the importance of urban design in the development process. Annually, mayors are invited to present case studies on any aspect of city design and to receive professional advice and consultation on the issues. Cities to which the Institute has provided consultation include Alton, IL; Appleton, WI; Bessemer, AL; Bettendorf, IA; Bowling Green, KY; Champaign, IL; Chesterfield, MO; Clinton, IA; Columbia, MO; Decatur, IL; Green Bay, WI; Hot Springs, AK; Inkster, MI; Kentwood, MI; Zanesville, OH; Hutchinson, KS; Dublin, OH; East Cleveland OH; Evanston, IL; Livonia, MI; Waterloo, IA; Waukesha, WI; Arlington Heights, IL; Belleville, IL; Dubuque, IA, Grand Island, NE; Mansfield, OH; Minot, ND; Maywood, IL; St. Charles, MO; Terre Haute, IN; Vincennes, IN; and Neenah, WI. The Mayors’ Institute for City Design Program received the 2000 Presidential Award for Design Excellence. Contract for Professional Urban Design Services to the City of St. Louis (1997 – 2000) Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design Washington University in St. Louis Contract to provide professional urban design services in the capacity of Director of Urban Design for the St. Louis Development Corporation and the City of St. Louis to lead the design team for the implementation of the Forest Park Master Plan, the development of the 1999 St. Louis Downtown Action Development Plan, and the Washington Avenue Streetscape Plan.

The firm has a diverse practice providing services to private companies, institutions, governments, public agencies, non-profit corporations and private citizen groups and individuals. CITY OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI St. Louis Development Corporation Director of Urban Design (1993 - 2000) Assistant Director of Urban Design (1990 - 1993) Charged with the formulation of urban design policy and master plans for the City of St. Louis. Urban design master plans include the 1999 Downtown Now Master Plan; 1995 Forest Park Master Plan; St. Louis Riverfront Plan; River Des Peres plan for flood management; 1993 St. Louis Downtown Strategic Plan; various district and neighborhood plans; The Washington Avenue Loft District Plan; and a redevelopment plan for the Boulevard System for St. Louis. Other projects include the design of The Regional Multi-Modal Transit Center, The Arch Grounds Connector for Memorial Drive, and numerous neighborhood housing and design projects. Responsibilities include public presentations of projects by the Urban Design Department and design review for major new public/private redevelopment projects, such as the Kiel Center, Convention Center/Football Stadium and the Light Rail Mass Transit Stations for the City of St. Louis. URBAN RESEARCH AND DESIGN CENTER (1989 – 1992) Washington University Research Faculty Participation in projects and strategic planning within the Urban Research and Design Center (URDC) including the development of a Multi-media pedagogical system for urban design; the development of a multi-media urban design and planning system for St. Louis Riverfront sponsored by a National Endowment for the Arts Grant; and Historical Animated Time Studies of St. Louis. Includes conceptual and detail design; presentation and working drawings; documentation; on-site administration; and managing and coordinating project teams. Design projects include large-scale urban recreational schemes; community libraries; institutional buildings, and numerous smaller scale projects, alterations and additions.
