The milestones of our history<br />
<strong>Fastems</strong>’ history is rooted in Helvar Merca’s machine<br />
division – a company founded in 1901. Machine tool<br />
imports started in the 1920s and our manufacturing<br />
technology knowledge dates back to the 1950s, to a<br />
company called Valmet.<br />
• 1920: Mercantile starts machine tool import<br />
• 1958: The first Valmet machine tool<br />
• 1982: The first FMS delivery by Mercantile and<br />
Valmet<br />
• 1990: Robotics product line starts at Mercantile<br />
• 1991: Sales office in Germany established by Valmet<br />
• 1995: Helvar Merca acquires Valmet Factory<br />
Automation<br />
• 1996: Sales office in Sweden<br />
• 1997: New factory site at Lahdesjärvi, Tampere<br />
• 1999: New company <strong>Fastems</strong> Oy Ab founded,<br />
sales offices in France and England<br />
• 2001: Flexible Pallet Container (FPC) launched,<br />
sales office in Italy<br />
• 2003: Service office in Härmä, the first <strong>Fastems</strong> full<br />
service contract<br />
• 2004: Robotised Production Cell (RPC) and<br />
Linesprint launched, the 400th FMS sold<br />
• 2005: RPC-G launched<br />
