assessment <strong>of</strong> the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> GPS:MAPP in preparing<br />

and retaining foster parents. Additional preparation and<br />

training components developed as needed.<br />

Evaluation: Report <strong>of</strong> evaluation and assessment outcomes<br />

developed and recommendations made regarding the<br />

effectiveness <strong>of</strong> the current foster parent preparation model<br />

(GPSD:MAPP).<br />

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:<br />

1 st Quarter Report: A comparative assessment <strong>of</strong> the three leading national foster /adoptive family preparation curricula has been<br />

completed. PATH, Father Flanagan's Boy's Home (Rebuilding Children's Lives), PRIDE, and Lutheran's PPPFP. Method <strong>for</strong><br />

measuring achievement: Written report <strong>of</strong> comparative assessment completed. Actions to be taken next quarter: Review and<br />

discuss curricula assessment outcomes and make recommendations as needed.<br />

1st Quarter Federal Response: (MOVE TO APPROPRIATE QUARTER)<br />

2 nd Quarter Report: Discussion <strong>of</strong> foster/adopt preparation curricula completed. It was unanimously agreed that GPS:MAPP is more<br />

in line with goals and philosophy <strong>of</strong> the state's foster care program. In addition, it would be fiscally prohibitive to train staff in the use<br />

<strong>of</strong> another curriculum at the present time. Method <strong>of</strong> measuring achievement: Review and discussion <strong>of</strong> curricula assessments<br />

completed.<br />

2 nd Quarter Federal Response: THIS WAS DUE IN MARCH. WAS IT ACHIEVED?<br />

3 rd Quarter Report/Reply: Achieved. See Review <strong>of</strong> GPS:MAPP and other training curricular (PATH, PRIDE, etc) Additional<br />

review <strong>of</strong> GPS:MAPP and other training approaches <strong>for</strong> foster and adoptive family preparation currently being implemented by a<br />

committee consisting <strong>of</strong> foster parents, state and county staff to determine which training model will be used at the end <strong>of</strong> the contract<br />

period <strong>for</strong> present GPS:MAPP trainers <strong>of</strong> trainers, which is September 2004.<br />

4 th Quarter Federal Response: The action step was due in March 2003. The goal is to evaluate the current foster parent preparation<br />

model (GPS: MAPP) <strong>for</strong> it's effectiveness in the preparation and retention <strong>of</strong> foster/adopt parents. How will the State measure this?<br />
