Targeted funding <strong>for</strong> the FFY 03 cycle has effectively increased the number, quality and array <strong>of</strong> services <strong>for</strong> children and families atrisk<br />

and children confirmed as maltreated. PSSF Services are now accessible in 91% <strong>of</strong> the state with service delivery in 143 counties<br />

statewide.<br />

A report <strong>of</strong> the findings and recommendations born out <strong>of</strong> the Governor's Action Group <strong>for</strong> <strong>Safe</strong> Children was released in January<br />

2003. The report identified corrective systemic options and practices and recommendations.<br />

2 nd Quarter Report: The Division hosted a series <strong>of</strong> four Regional PSSF Training and Networking Sessions in March <strong>of</strong> 2003.<br />

More than 500 county department directors, supervisors, cps/placement staff and community based providers attended the regional<br />

sessions. In<strong>for</strong>mation was provided on the PSSF <strong>Program</strong>, federal and state funding objectives and desired outcomes <strong>for</strong> children and<br />

families served by the state <strong>of</strong> Georgia. Relevant in<strong>for</strong>mation was shared on the CFSR process, findings and recommendations <strong>for</strong><br />

program improvement, with particular emphasis on the current array <strong>of</strong> services and the development <strong>of</strong> supports and services in under<br />

resourced counties.<br />

The sessions provided an opportunity <strong>for</strong> staff and providers to assess on a regional level the current array <strong>of</strong> supports and services<br />

funded by the PSSF program, identify geographical gaps in service accessibility and begin resource development planning discussions<br />

to assure that a full continuum <strong>of</strong> services are accessible statewide.<br />

4 th Quarter Report: The Division hosted the FFY 2004 PSSF Bidders Conference in March 2003to provide in<strong>for</strong>mation and<br />

technical assistance to public and private non-pr<strong>of</strong>it entities and county DFCS interested in developing or enhancing community<br />

service resources <strong>for</strong> children and families. More than 200 agency representatives in attendance were provided in<strong>for</strong>mation on the<br />

PSSF <strong>Program</strong> and funding process, federal and state funding objectives and desired outcomes <strong>for</strong> children and families served by the<br />

state <strong>of</strong> Georgia. Relevant in<strong>for</strong>mation was shared on the CFSR process, findings and recommendations <strong>for</strong> program improvement,<br />
