ACCOMPLISHMENTS:<br />
Protective Services Unit has incorporated material in state<br />
CPS policy training that was provided to every CPS and<br />
FC worker in 2002 and is scheduled throughout the state<br />
every year. Number <strong>of</strong> CPS staff trained will be available.<br />
1 st Quarter Report: State CPS staff is including an expanded segment in CPS policy training in 2003 that focuses on requirements <strong>of</strong><br />
open records and staff responsibility. Three policy-training sessions <strong>of</strong> 2 1/2 days each are planned <strong>for</strong> each quarter <strong>of</strong> 2003. These are<br />
scheduled in all regions <strong>of</strong> the state and began in February.<br />

2 nd Quarter Report: Other skills training sessions being developed <strong>for</strong> 2003 are 'Finding Words' and 'Advanced Investigations<br />
Training.<br />
3 rd Quarter Report: The first session <strong>of</strong> 'Finding Words' was in January 2003, and a week <strong>of</strong> 'Advanced Investigations Training' was<br />
held May 2003. The department has provided initial interpretation <strong>of</strong> HIPAA requirements, and CPS policy and procedures will be<br />
updated to comply with requirements and HIPAA. Procedures <strong>for</strong> HIPAA will be incorporated into CPS policy training. This could<br />
not be done by July, as anticipated, because interpretations <strong>for</strong> CPS use have just become available<br />
This in<strong>for</strong>mation should be in policy and procedure <strong>for</strong>m by the end <strong>of</strong> the third quarter.<br />
