Support and advocate <strong>for</strong>: 2000 supplement -- 171<br />

positions; 2002 -- 100 positions; 2003 -- 100 positions<br />

1 st Quarter Report: It is expected that legislative approval will be sought <strong>for</strong> 100 new Child Welfare positions.<br />

2 nd Quarter Report: Same as first 1 st Quarter.<br />

3 rd Quarter Report: ACHIEVED. DFCS received 100 positions in both years and received 125 positions in SFY '04. The request to<br />

the state legislature <strong>for</strong> additional staff will continue.<br />

3 rd Quarter Federal Response: When is the next annual request due?<br />

4 th Quarter Georgia Reply: See 4 th Quarter barrier statement.<br />

4 th Quarter Federal Response: See bullet #2 above under Work <strong>Plan</strong> G, related to caseworker positions (StepG1). Same<br />

5th Quarter Report: The additional 125 positions were received in SFY '04 (July 2003). Effective February 2004, 65 State <strong>of</strong>fice<br />

staff were deployed to specifically identified county <strong>of</strong>fices needing immediate attention with case management and supervisory<br />

functions. These were temporary 90-day reassignments. <strong>Plan</strong>s are in place to permanently reduce the State Office work<strong>for</strong>ce and<br />

return these positions to county and regional <strong>of</strong>fices.<br />
