1 st Quarter Report: This benchmark was achieved. Using information on the subst<strong>an</strong>tiated maltreatment to foster care children by<br />
foster parents or residential/facility staff for the period <strong>of</strong> J<strong>an</strong>uary 2001 -- December 2001, a pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> the victims was produced.<br />

In J<strong>an</strong>uary 2003, ch<strong>an</strong>ges were made in the data collection system to improve the capacity <strong>of</strong> collecting more specific data <strong>of</strong> children<br />
abused in foster care. Information from the new enh<strong>an</strong>ced system will be used in monitoring described in step 13.<br />
3 rd Quarter Report: Georgia believes this action step to be achieved. We inadvertently put information under the barrier column<br />
during the first report quarter that should have been under the accomplishment column.<br />
8 th Quarter Report: Achieved. Per ACF 7 th quarter request: between J<strong>an</strong>uary <strong>an</strong>d December 2001, a total <strong>of</strong> 22,202 cases <strong>an</strong>d<br />
39,493 incidents <strong>of</strong> subst<strong>an</strong>tiated maltreatment were reported in GA. [Of these, subst<strong>an</strong>tiated maltreatment <strong>of</strong> child welfare children<br />
accounted for 109 cases <strong>an</strong>d 219 incidents <strong>of</strong> maltreatment.] The incidence <strong>of</strong> maltreatment in foster homes was 89 cases, or .4% <strong>of</strong><br />
all subst<strong>an</strong>tiated cases during this period. The attached Report on the Maltreatment <strong>of</strong> Foster Children <strong>an</strong>d its comp<strong>an</strong>ion Summary<br />
Report, provides a pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> the foster care victim, compares the foster care victim to non-victim foster children, <strong>an</strong>d gives a pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong><br />
foster families involved in maltreatment investigations.<br />
