A report <strong>of</strong> the findings <strong>an</strong>d recommendations born out <strong>of</strong> the Governor's Action Group for Safe Children was released in J<strong>an</strong>uary<br />

2003. The report identified corrective systemic options <strong>an</strong>d practices <strong>an</strong>d recommendations.<br />

2 nd Quarter Report: The Division hosted a series <strong>of</strong> four Regional PSSF Training <strong>an</strong>d Networking Sessions in March <strong>of</strong> 2003.<br />

More th<strong>an</strong> 500 county department directors, supervisors, cps/placement staff <strong>an</strong>d community based providers attended the regional<br />

sessions. Information was provided on the PSSF Program, federal <strong>an</strong>d state funding objectives <strong>an</strong>d desired outcomes for children <strong>an</strong>d<br />

families served by the state <strong>of</strong> Georgia. Relev<strong>an</strong>t information was shared on the CFSR process, findings <strong>an</strong>d recommendations for<br />

<strong>program</strong> <strong>improvement</strong>, with particular emphasis on the current array <strong>of</strong> services <strong>an</strong>d the development <strong>of</strong> supports <strong>an</strong>d services in under<br />

resourced counties.<br />

The sessions provided <strong>an</strong> opportunity for staff <strong>an</strong>d providers to assess on a regional level the current array <strong>of</strong> supports <strong>an</strong>d services<br />

funded by the PSSF <strong>program</strong>, identify geographical gaps in service accessibility <strong>an</strong>d begin resource development pl<strong>an</strong>ning discussions<br />

to assure that a full continuum <strong>of</strong> services are accessible statewide.<br />

Targeted PSSF funding for the FFY 03 cycle has effectively increased the number, quality <strong>an</strong>d array <strong>of</strong> services for children <strong>an</strong>d<br />

families at-risk <strong>an</strong>d children confirmed as maltreated. PSSF Services are accessible in 91% <strong>of</strong> the state with service delivery in 143 out<br />

<strong>of</strong> 159 counties statewide.<br />

4 th Quarter Report: The Division hosted the FFY 2004 PSSF Bidders Conference in March 2003to provide information <strong>an</strong>d<br />

technical assist<strong>an</strong>ce to public <strong>an</strong>d private non-pr<strong>of</strong>it entities <strong>an</strong>d county DFCS interested in developing or enh<strong>an</strong>cing community<br />

service resources for children <strong>an</strong>d families. More th<strong>an</strong> 200 agency representatives in attend<strong>an</strong>ce were provided information on the<br />

PSSF Program <strong>an</strong>d funding process, federal <strong>an</strong>d state funding objectives <strong>an</strong>d desired outcomes for children <strong>an</strong>d families served by the<br />

state <strong>of</strong> Georgia. Relev<strong>an</strong>t information was shared on the CFSR process, findings <strong>an</strong>d recommendations for <strong>program</strong> <strong>improvement</strong>,<br />

Counties currently un-served by PSSF Network Providers include Walton, Morg<strong>an</strong>, Jones, Wilkinson, Crawford, Peach, Marion,<br />

Early, Miller, Baker, Turner, C<strong>of</strong>fee, Bacon, Tattnall <strong>an</strong>d Ev<strong>an</strong>s counties.<br />
