ACCOMPLISHMENTS:<br />

2 nd Quarter Report: Foster Care Consult<strong>an</strong>ts have started to visit counties within their assigned area(s), to monitor progress on<br />

perm<strong>an</strong>ency issues <strong>an</strong>d provide training <strong>an</strong>d technical assist<strong>an</strong>ce.<br />

3 rd Quarter Report: Monitoring continues.<br />

4 th Quarter Report: We will utilize the information gle<strong>an</strong>ed from the Qualitative Reviews to assess whether the needs <strong>an</strong>d services to<br />

children <strong>an</strong>d families improve following training <strong>an</strong>d policy ch<strong>an</strong>ges. Information from Qualitative Review report findings will help<br />

determine future training <strong>an</strong>d policy needs.<br />

4 th Quarter Federal Response: See same comments under Step I6 related to QA.<br />

5 th Quarter Report: At least 100 cases will undergo Qualitative Review by the end <strong>of</strong> September 2004. Reports from the reviews will<br />

be available beginning J<strong>an</strong>uary 2004.<br />

5 th Quarter DOCUMENTATION: Social Services Quarterly Report, Qualitative Case Reviews, October 2003 -- December 2003.<br />

6 th Quarter Report: The Evaluation <strong>an</strong>d Reporting Section continues to perform Qualitative Reviews. From J<strong>an</strong>uary-March 2003,<br />

sixteen county departments <strong>an</strong>d a total <strong>of</strong> 37 cases were reviewed. A total <strong>of</strong> 62 cases have been reviewed by Evaluation <strong>an</strong>d<br />

Reporting since the process beg<strong>an</strong>.<br />

6 th Quarter Federal Response: I16: State has ch<strong>an</strong>ged the benchmark! 5 th Quarterly reporting is inconsistent with the benchmark the<br />

state modified <strong>an</strong>d also with the States to delete/ collapse several <strong>of</strong> the goals listed above.<br />

I16: When will the State provide the written report referred to?<br />

7 th Quarter Report: The State did not ch<strong>an</strong>ge the benchmark. The Action Step was revised <strong>an</strong>d approved by ACF during the Annual<br />

Evaluation/Renegotiations process. ACF also approved collapsing Action Steps I-13 <strong>an</strong>d I-14 into Action Step I-6.<br />
