Placement technical assist<strong>an</strong>ce training, trainees were taught how to access the m<strong>an</strong>y services provided under Wrap-Around.<br />

Additionally, there is in the new worker training curriculum, the Child <strong>an</strong>d Family Comprehensive Assessment (First Placement Best<br />

Placement) training component, which thoroughly discusses how to use <strong>an</strong>d access Wrap Around services, including accessing post<br />

subst<strong>an</strong>ce abuse counseling.<br />

I5 ACTION STEPS: Georgia will complete technical assist<strong>an</strong>ce to DFCS staff <strong>an</strong>d private providers as to how to complete a<br />

comprehensive assessment <strong>an</strong>d how to use the collected information to make the most appropriate perm<strong>an</strong>ency<br />

decision at the beginning <strong>of</strong> the child's stay in foster care. The FP/BP information will also be used to develop<br />

This benchmark was achieved. In July 2002, Foster Care staff beg<strong>an</strong> training DFCS staff <strong>an</strong>d providers on the revised FP/BP<br />

Assessment <strong>an</strong>d Wrap Around policies <strong>an</strong>d st<strong>an</strong>dards. Foster parents, judges <strong>an</strong>d court appointed special advocates (CASA'S) also<br />

received FP/BP training. More th<strong>an</strong> 3600 staff, providers <strong>an</strong>d other stakeholders received training in 17 sessions across the state.<br />

Foster Care staff also provided training to DFCS staff on the Case Pl<strong>an</strong> Reporting System (CPRS) to help staff use the information<br />

collected in the comprehensive assessment to make more appropriate perm<strong>an</strong>ency decisions. Over 900 DFCS placement staff received<br />

this training.<br />
