TRI-KA – The mobile characteristics analyser: Now 

even more efficient 

Mobile portable measuring instrument 

The new TRI‐KA not only identifies the current voltage 

curves of module strings, but also of individual photovoltaic 

modules. The I-Ucharacteristic curve, output, 

short-circuit current and open-circuit voltage are 

recorded by a 16 bit processor. During each measurement 

the TRI‐KA adjusts the measuring range and 

sample rate optimally. The device is easily and intuitively 

operated using the menus on the colour touch 

screen. The characteristic curve measured by the 

TRI‐KA can be converted to a STC characteristic curve 

based on the values measured by the sensor TRI‐SEN 

and displayed. In addition, the STC ideal characteristic 

curve of the manufacturer can be displayed, due to the 

integrated module data base. 

Wireless sensor 

Without contact, the wireless sensor TRI‐SEN measures 

the cell temperature, the angle of inclination and the 

irradiation at the solar module level. The measured 

values are wirelessly transferred directly to the main 

instrument, the TRI‐KA. The reference cell for the 

measuring of the irradiation can be either a monocrystalline 

or a polycrystalline cell. 

Evaluation software 

The evaluation software was also completely overhauled. 

The TRI‐KA software can evaluate, manage 

and store the measured module data on the PC. With 

a few steps of the guided Wizard, the measured data is 

saved to the respective customer or system directory. 

Further measurements of the same system can then be 

added, sorted by date, and compared with the software.

The TRI‐KA characteristics analyser and the TRI‐SEN irradiation 

and temperature sensor are easy to operate and provide 

reliable measurements. 

With the evaluation software the individual strings are evaluated 

and combined to individual installations. Measurement 

reports from single strings, single modules and from 

the entire systems can be printed.

Spektron irradiation sensors 

The Spektron 210 and 320 are silicon sensors used for 

measuring the solar irradiation. The Spektron 210 provides 

a voltage proportionally to the intensity of the 

solar irradiation. The Spektron 320 has an integrated 

amplifier. Therefore the sensor signal is amplified and 

output as a norm signal. The output signal ranges from 

0to10V,0to3.125V,0to150mV,and4to20mAat0 

to 1500 W/m².

Ease of use 

The Spektron can be connected directly to a voltmeter 

or a datalogger. The voltage measured by the Spektron 

210 can be converted into the unit of irradiation 

(W/m²), using the calibration value imprinted on the 

sensor. 

Robust casing 

The Spektron can be used irrespective of the weather 

conditions and under any angle of inclination. 

Spektron 210: The 2-core extension cable is UV-resistant. All 

Spektron devices are calibrated beneath a sun light simulator 

against a reference sensor, which has been calibrated by 

the Fraunhofer ISE. 

The Spektron 320 can output up to four different norm 

signals, due to its integrated circuit board. This board has 

to be powered with 5 to 30 V DC or 12 to 30 V DC.

TRITEC temperature sensors 

TRITEC surface temperature sensor Pt1000 

The surface temperature sensor Pt1000 is an adhesive 

foil sensor. It was designed for measurements on surfaces 

and is primarily used for temperature measurementsofsolarmodules. 

By installing the surface temperature sensor at the 

back of a solar module, the module temperature can 

be measured. The temperature of solar modules is 

crucial for their output, because the output decreases 

by 0.43 %/K with increasing temperature. By monitoring 

the temperature at the solar cells, conclusions can 

be drawn about the behaviour of the output curve. 

TRITEC outside temperature sensor Pt1000 

The outside temperature sensor Pt1000 is integrated in 

a weather-proof macrolone housing. Its compact 

design makes the sensor extremely flexible: it can be 

installed anywhere. The UV-resistant plastic housing is 

equipped with a two-core connection cable.

Solarfox displays allow the individual and appealing 

display of solar data. Using the visually attractive displays 

indoors and outdoors, all data of a solar system 

can be displayed almost in real-time. Combined with 

individual features, such as company logos or weather 

details, not only system data are communicated, but 

the entire displayed content can be customised. 

Simple handling 

The displays designed for continuous operation (24/7) 

can be set up as easily as they are operated. The setup 

takes less than 10 minutes, following a user-friendly 

setup menu. The devices are operated via the Internet, 

and the entire display content can be edited using a 

web browser application. In addition to continuous 

operation, the devices can be used with a time switch 

control activating them on certain days and time. 

Flexible application 

Be it on private land or company grounds, large or 

small displays, indoors or outdoors – Solarfox provides 

the appropriate device for any application. Present the 

solar data to your guests in your own home, show your 

customers the yield of your system directly in the reception
