THE SPIRIT OF THE FESTIVAL
The Golden Harvest Festival is a family
experience offering fun-filled activities for
all ages. In addition to art and craft vendors
there will be hayrides, guided nature walks,
wildlife programs, entertainment, games and
plenty of tasty foods. The Festival features
over 100 artists/craftspeople and attracts
15,000 visitors each year.
HOW TO APPLY
Send us five or more clear prints
(no slides) of items typical of those to be
exhibited at the show. A written, specific
description of your original, handcrafted Art
or Craft is also required of ALL applicants.
Applicants should submit the application
form and fee by due date
(work will not be reviewed in person).
1. Applications Due: July 31 st to ensure
listing in program
2. In most cases decisions are made within
the month we receive the application.
3. Checks are made payable to:
Friends of Beaver Lake
($25 service charge for returned checks)
4. If your work is not chosen for this year’s
Festival your check and prints will be
returned.
5. Cancellations: BLNC must be notified
by August 27, 2011 for a refund.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants will be evaluated by an impartial
jury. Primary criteria used in judging will be:
Are the designs original?
Are the works handmade?
Is the medium unusual or uncommon?
Do natural materials or themes
predominate?
Does exhibitor demonstrate work?
Examples of arts and crafts suitable for the
Golden Harvest Festival include; original
painting, drawing, photography, printmaking,
sculpture, quilting, weaving, leatherworking,
pottery, handmade toys, glass art, jewelry,
metalwork and folk art. Our goal is to have a
wide diversity of high quality arts and crafts
on display. Agents and dealers are not
allowed. In addition, the following items are
considered unacceptable for this show: work
assembled from kits, ceramics cast from
commercial molds, imports, manufactured or
kit jewelry, and needlepoint or cross-stitch
made from commercially available designs.
Beaver Lake Nature Center reserves the right
to make all final decisions concerning the
acceptance or rejection of an applicant’s
work and, during the Festival to ask for
removal of work which does not fall within
our guidelines. Please respect this process.
FACTORS AFFECTING
ARTISTS &
CRAFTSPEOPLE
Part of the main arts and crafts area
will be on pavement. This
necessitates that exhibitors bring thin
metal spikes to pound into the surface
of the parking lot (it is an oil and
stone surface) to which tarp, ropes
could be attached. Since few of our
sites have shade, all exhibitors should
be prepared with tarps to block the
sun.
All artists and craftspeople will be
expected to park in the designated
parking lot during the Festival.
If you use your vehicle to store extra
inventory and need access during the
day, you should consider bringing a
hand truck or cart. All exhibitors'
vehicles must be moved to the parking
lot by 9:15 am. If you need to leave
the grounds during the day, you will
be asked to park near the exit.
SPACES AND FEES
Spaces will be assigned.
$125 fee for each 10'x10' space. Artists
and craftspeople must bring their own
setups and tables, and no electricity will
be available. Your booth must stay
entirely within the 10' x 10' size
limitations.

SALES &
RESPONSIBILITIES
All sales and sales tax are the responsibility
of the artist/craftsperson(s). In addition,
New York State Law requires Onondaga
County Parks to have a sales tax or federal
ID number on file. Exhibitors must post
their tax certificate during the show. The
exhibitor will assume all responsibility for
work exhibited at all times and the booth
must be staffed at all times for the duration
of the show. Artist/craftperson(s) will not
be allowed to sell from vans and campers,
and all vehicles must be parked in
designated lots
LOCATION
The Festival will be held at Beaver Lake
Nature Center, an Onondaga County Park
offering nature-oriented educational and
recreational experiences. The Nature Center
consists of a 651-acre natural area, with nine
miles of hiking trails. The Nature Center is
located about four miles west of Baldwinsville
off Route 370, a well-marked highway.
Baldwinsville is easily reached by taking
Route 690 west from Syracuse. If you need a
list of motels and campgrounds in the area,
please contact the Nature Center. We will
allow self-contained units to stay overnight in a
specified location with advance permission
only.

Information
Onondaga County Parks assumes no
responsibility for losses of work due to
theft or poor weather, nor for personal
injury of customers due to your booth
setup, or damages suffered due to any other
reason. We advise you to be prepared for
rain, and although we provide some
security you should leave nothing of value
out overnight. Security of your
merchandise and setup is your
responsibility
