Octopus includes a network administrator module, a content management module, a

Manager Module
• Octopus administration is allowing a real-time and permanent management. The
executed changes can dynamically be modified without restarting the Set Top Boxes.
• The Manager module is the basis of Octopus architecture. It manages any module in
“Back-office” via a web browser

Supervisor Module
• Thanks to the « Supervisor » option, Octopus is operating in a centralised architecture.
Indeed, as Octopus Supervisor is installed on a central server, several head-end can be
served on the same network. You can therefore gather and optimize IPTV Live head
end and/or VOD server.
• The Supervisor creates several establishments, called « operators ». For each
« operator », you can also attribute or provision different services and customise its
interface according to its own graphical charter.
• The Supervisor enables also to « clone » modules. For example, if a particular
information service, like weather or shopping needs to be set up apart in only one
location, a single module « Info » can be created.

Audience Measure Module
• The audience measure module gives at any time a global view about the usage of the
network, most viewed TV channels, viewers habit, VOD usage, etc.
• It provides also flash based interactive charts to combine different type of data.
• The data can be exported for treatment with 3 rd party reporting software

Live and Pay TV
• This module is the base of an IPTV offer and allows you to receive streamed flows from
a DVB/IP gateway. Those flows can come from terrestrial TV, satellite or cable (DVB –
T /S / C) but also from any IP streaming source.
• In terms of user-interface, like all Octopus modules, you can fully manage the graphical
environment, changing the buttons, interface backgrounds, or headers and footers, etc.

Time Shift and Network PVR
• The Time shifting module enables to pause the program in progress and view it later. It
though requires a VOD server to stock the real time recorded flows.
• The PVR Network module enables the end user to record live flows in a centralised
manner. You can record the program in progress (via the red button on the remote
control), or program a record (via a simple interface), and manage them, making a
record public or private to the other network end users.

SMS Module
• The SMS (Subscribers Management System) is the core application of Octopus, it
enables the view or the usage of a service to a subscriber or to a group of subscriber.
• It filters the content, manage the packages, provide services to every Set Top Box
connected on the network according to its IP or MAC address (or smart card ID if
available).
