will stay around – they<br />

are soooo good:<br />

CHERRY WALNUT BARS<br />

Mrs. Randy Lorenson<br />

2 cups flour<br />

1/2 cup sugar<br />

1 cup butter or margarine<br />

2 eggs plus 1 egg yolk<br />

1 1/2 cups brown sugar<br />

1/4 cup flour<br />

1/2 teaspoon salt<br />

1/2 cup maraschino cherries,<br />

chopped<br />

Mix first 3 ingredients<br />

and pat in greased pan and<br />

bake at 350 degrees for 15<br />

minutes.<br />

Beat eggs and add<br />

remaining ingredients; stir<br />

in cherries and nuts and<br />

spread over baked crust.<br />

Bake again for 20-25 minutes.<br />

Frost if desired.<br />

Frosting<br />

2 cups powdered sugar<br />

2 tablespoons cherry juice<br />

2 tablespoons butter<br />

1 pound ground beef<br />

3/4 cup milk<br />

4 cups cooked noodles (cook<br />

before measuring to get<br />

correct amount)<br />

1 can cream of mushroom<br />

soup<br />

Dash of pepper<br />

1/2 cup onions, chopped (or<br />

less)<br />

1 (8 ounce) package cream<br />

cheese, cubed<br />

1 1/2 cups whole kernel<br />

corn, drained<br />

1 1/2 teaspoons salt<br />

Brown meat. Add onion<br />

and cook until tender. Stir in<br />

milk and cheese until well<br />

blended. Add remaining<br />

ingredients and pour into 2<br />

quart casserole. Bake 30<br />

minutes at 350 degrees.<br />

Recipe serves 6.<br />

1 can cherry pie filling<br />

1 white cake mix<br />

2/3 cup melted butter<br />

1/2 cup chopped walnuts<br />

Grease 9x13 inch cake<br />

pan. Place fruit pie filling<br />

evenly over bottom. Spread<br />

dry cake mix over fruit. Pour<br />

melted butter over all. Top<br />

with nuts. Bake at 375<br />

degrees until brown and<br />

serve with whipped cream<br />

or ice cream.<br />

The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program awarded<br />

$3,386 to the Pennington County EFSP Local Board. These funds are<br />

used to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Pennington<br />

County. The EFSP Local Board will determine how the funds awarded<br />

are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs<br />

run by organizations in the area. Organizations chosen to receive funds<br />

must 1) be private non-profit or an agency of government, 2) have an accounting<br />

system, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) have demonstrated<br />

the capacity to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, 5) if they<br />

are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board,<br />

6) they must not be debarred or suspended from receiving Federal funds<br />

and 7) agencies will be required to provide a DUNS number & FEIN if<br />

approved for funding. Qualifying organizations are urged to apply.<br />

Deadline for application is by 4 p.m., February 11, 2013<br />
