Sam Olson was presented
with the Prowler Award,
Hunter Blowers was named
the most improved player
and Brady Nessen was
selected as Rookie of the
Year.
Logan Engelstad was recognized
for most singles
wins; Jorde Hutton and
Devin Hutton collected the
most doubles wins; and
Engelstad came up with the
most combined singles-doubles
wins this spring.
Engelstad was also introduced
as a member of the
program’s 100 Win Club. He
finished his high school tennis
career with 134 wins.
Minnesota State High
School Tennis Coaches
Association academic allstate
honors went to David
Szeto and Olson.
As a team, Thief River
Falls earned Gold Standard
status for state academic
Tim Engelstad
honors with a 3.79 grade
point average.
Jorde Hutton and
Blowers were named captains
of the 2014 Prowlers,
succeeding Cullen Horien,
Engelstad, Olson and Szeto.

four seniors on this year’s
team: Engelstad, Olson,
Szeto and Horien. Others
were juniors Issac
Brady Nessen, Rookie of the Year; and

of the Class A Coach
of the Year award by the
State Tennis Coaches
Association.
Thief River Falls went 14-
5 in dual meet competition
this spring and won the
Section 8A team tournament
title for the tenth straight
year.
The Prowlers’ Class A
state tournament appearance
included a 7-0 opening
round loss to Breck School, a
5-2 consolation semifinal
win over Virginia and a 5-2
consolation final setback at
the hands of Rochester
Lourdes.
In addition to the
Prowlers’ team success,
Logan Engelstad won his
third straight Section 8A
singles title after being part
of a Section 8A championship
doubles team as a
freshman.

13 Minnesota 15-year-olds
who have been chosen to
participate in the 2013 USA
Hockey Select 15 National
Player Development Camp
for girls.
Jorde, who will be a sophomore
at Lincoln High
School this fall, earned the
prestigious honor following
a week of skating in the
Reebok High Performance
Girls 15 Summer Festival in
St. Cloud, where invited
players from throughout
Minnesota trained and were
evaluated for the national
camp.
Also selected for the
national camp was defenseman
Patty Marshall, who
played in Thief River Falls
before transferring last year
as a freshman to Shattuck-
St. Mary’s.
Forward Haley Mack of
East Grand Forks will join
Jorde as a Section 8A representative
at the national
camp.
Forward Kora Torkelson
of Thief River Falls and
defenseman Makayla
Langei of East Grand Forks
were Reebok High

of alternates for the national
camp.

alternates are expected to
participate in the Herb
Brooks National Prep Camp
July 9-12 in Blaine to prepare
them for the competition
they will face at the
USA Hockey Development
Camp that will be held July
19-25 in St. Cloud.
According to website
information, the Reebok
Minnesota Hockey High
Performance Programs are
conducted in conjunction
with USA Hockey and are
referred to as Select programs
in other parts of the
country.
Officials say the national
festival/camps are used by
USA Hockey to identify the
top performers in each age
group for possible opportunities
to represent the United
States at advanced levels of
national and international
competition.
