Stationery items like, note books pencils <strong>and</strong> food items were distributed <strong>to</strong> the children of less<br />
privileged <strong>and</strong> needy ones, who have been taken care of by ANAWA (Retired Army Navy Airforce<br />
Personnel Welfare Association) at Noida.<br />
CGWWA (WEST)<br />
During the CG Week Celebrations, a ‘Day at Sea’ for 72 special children from Mona Remedial<br />
Education Centre was organised onboard ICGS Sankalp. Stationary items were distributed <strong>to</strong> the<br />
children of casual labourers of shore units of Mumbai by the members of ‘Sneha’. CGWWA members<br />
visited Vatsalya Foundation, Mahalakshmi, Mumbai along with ‘Pidilite Hobby Ideas’ group, <strong>and</strong><br />
organised a demonstration for the children <strong>to</strong> learn the art of making lanterns. ‘Sneha’ team also<br />
donated provisions along with snacks <strong>and</strong> juices for children.<br />
The ladies from New Mangalore visited Cheshire Home, Kankanady for differently abled persons.<br />
The ladies spent quality time with them <strong>and</strong> extended a helping h<strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong> them by donating various<br />
provisions <strong>and</strong> items.<br />
Sneha teams of Kochi <strong>and</strong> Goa donated provisions <strong>and</strong> clothes <strong>to</strong> casual labourers working with<br />
the <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong>. As part of outreach activity, a visit <strong>to</strong> Snehalaya, an old age home was organised<br />
along with a medical checkup for the inmates by Surg Lt Mayuri Gedam at Daman. ‘ASHA’ a shelter<br />
for the children of casual labourers of TRV was also inaugurated at Daman. An outreach programme<br />
was organised at Vizhinjam <strong>to</strong> visit the ‘Abhaya Orphanage’ situated in Triv<strong>and</strong>rum.<br />
CGWWA (EAST)<br />
Tatrakshika members visited ‘Netrodaya’ a school for visually challenged, ‘Vishranti’ a home for<br />
the aged <strong>and</strong> destitute women <strong>and</strong> ‘Kaakkum Karangal Old age Home’. Donations of cash, provisions<br />
<strong>and</strong> utilities were made. A special entertainment programme for underprivileged children was organised<br />
onboard <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> Ship Sagar which was attended by about 350 children from various orphanages.<br />
As part of outreach activity, CGWWA members of Vishakhapatnam visited ‘Ratna Kutir’ a Child<br />
Care Home <strong>and</strong> ‘Jamia Gulshan E Fatima Education Society’. Donations of ration, cash <strong>and</strong> utilities<br />
were made at both the places.<br />
ICGS M<strong>and</strong>apam conducted at outreach activity by distributing clothes <strong>and</strong> food <strong>to</strong> the families<br />
of fishermen. In yet another activity, ration <strong>and</strong> clothes were also given <strong>to</strong> the poor.<br />
The members of Puducherry alongwith Regional Tatrakshika President (E) visited ‘Baby Sarah<br />
Home’ <strong>and</strong> donated sweets <strong>and</strong> notebooks. The ladies of CGWWA, Kakinada also stretched their helping<br />
h<strong>and</strong>s <strong>to</strong> the aged people in Ashram ‘Sravana’. A medical lecture on ‘De-worming <strong>and</strong> Nutrition’ <strong>and</strong><br />
‘Screening for Anaemia’ for women by the Station Medical Officer of Tuticorin was held during the year.<br />
Lectures on ‘Prevention <strong>and</strong> Modes of spread of HIV’, Symp<strong>to</strong>ms of Psychological Diseases<br />
<strong>and</strong> Steps <strong>to</strong> relieve Stress’ were also conducted at Kakinada.<br />
