CGWWA (ANDAMAN & NICOBAR)<br />
To commemorate the 63 rd Vanamahotsava, ‘Tree Plantation Drive’, ‘Save Environment Run’ <strong>and</strong><br />
‘Earth Day’ were organised <strong>to</strong> spread awareness about the need for protection <strong>and</strong> perseverance of<br />
our environment. On this occasion, the children were educated on the role of trees <strong>and</strong> importance of<br />
forests in our eco-system.<br />
To stress upon the ‘Reuse’ <strong>and</strong> ‘Recycling’ of biological waste, the Areca leaf plate making<br />
training programme’ with the assistance of local help group Aval Vikatan was conducted at Port Blair.<br />
All Ladies <strong>and</strong> even small children tried their h<strong>and</strong>s on the machine <strong>and</strong> made eye-catching plates.<br />
CGWWA (NORTH EAST)<br />
Srishti Kolkata organised a tree plantation activity for the beautification of the area around the<br />
newly constructed <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> Accommodation at Maniktala, Kolkata. Large number of trees were<br />
planted by the CGWWA members, Officers, EPs <strong>and</strong> their families.<br />
CGWWA (NORTH WEST)<br />
A trip was organised <strong>to</strong> Indroda Park, G<strong>and</strong>hinagar with the purpose of a nature walk as well as<br />
for bird-watching. Around 224 species of birds were found. The trip provided an insightful underst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
of various species of birds.<br />
CGWWA (NW) <strong>to</strong>ok a small step <strong>to</strong> spread awareness of ‘Save the common Sparrow’ from<br />
extinction. The event was jointly hosted by young journalists of Ahmedabad Mirror, wherein they<br />
donated nests <strong>to</strong> the personnel who attended with a catalogue mentioning the tips for looking after<br />
the sparrows.<br />
SANCHITA (CGWWA Shop)<br />
The CGWWA shop Sanchita provides a stable outlet for items procured from various<br />
parts of the country. It also serves as a platform for ladies <strong>to</strong> showcase their natural<br />
skills <strong>and</strong> help them <strong>to</strong> make a good earning using their talents.<br />
CGWWA (HEADQUARTERS)<br />
The shop has items like, Khurja potter, pouches, jewellery, showpieces, bottle, bags <strong>and</strong> other<br />
h<strong>and</strong>made items. Glassware items, dessert plates, glass bowls of different shapes were added <strong>to</strong> the<br />
collection for sale.<br />
Dress materials like brocade, cot<strong>to</strong>n silk <strong>and</strong> readymade kurtas are also displayed <strong>and</strong> kept for<br />
sale at a very reasonable price. Homemade C<strong>and</strong>les, h<strong>and</strong>made cards <strong>and</strong> paper bags are other<br />
attractions of sanchita. Ethnic items from various parts of our country is also available in the shop.<br />
Block print duppattas, kurtis <strong>and</strong> sarees are displayed <strong>and</strong> made available on dem<strong>and</strong>. Jewelleries<br />
from various states is an exclusive collection seen in Sanchita.<br />
