JOIN AS MUSICIANS IN INDIAN COAST GUARD
1. Eligibility:- Vacancies are available in Indian Coast Guard for Musicians with the
specialization in Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet, F Hom, Trumpet, Tenor Trombone,
Eb Bass, Drummer, Flute/Piccolo for re-employment. Retired sailors (Petty officers and
below) from Indian Navy are only eligible for the posts. The individual will be re-employed
in a similar rank to that discharged from Indian Navy. The seniority in recruited rank will be
fixed as per the joining date in Coast Guard. They would be under probation for two years,
which may be extended at the discretion of the appointing authority.
2. How to apply: - Application on plain paper (type written or hand written in
English/Hindi) is to be forwarded to the Recruitment Officer, Post Box No. 127, Noida (U.P)
Pin Code – 201 301 “Under Postal Certificate” only. Registered letters, Speed Post or 'letters
by hand' will not be accepted. Applications can be downloaded from the Indian Coast Guard
website www.indiancoastguard.nic.in
3. Selection procedure:- Short listed candidates will be intimated regarding date,
time and place of test, which is scheduled during May 13. Broad criteria for selection is as
follows:
(i) Candidates will be required to undergo interview for assessment of knowledge.
(ii) Candidates will undergo practical to play instrument to check the
efficiency in a particular instrument.
(iii) Candidates those who qualify the above tests will be required to undergo
initial recruitment medical examination. Those found medically fit will be placed
in the merit list.
(iv) The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all the
tests depending upon the available vacancies.
4. Medical Standards: Selected candidates will undergo medical examination as
per laid down standards of Enrolled Personnel prior to enrolment in the Coast Guard.
5. List of Documents: Scrutiny of documents for eligibility will be carried out
prior to commencement of the test. Candidates are therefore required to appear at the
examination venue with the following documents: -
(a) Original certificate of tenth class for date of birth verification.
(b) Proof of identity such as passport/ driving license/ voter I card/ college ID
card / any other photo identity proof.
(c) Caste Certificate (if applicable) in original as per Govt of India format.
(d) Discharge documents from Indian Navy.
(e) Ten recent colour passport size photographs.
(f) Experience certificate regarding playing of instruments.
6. Pay, Perks and other benefits:- Pay will be admissible as per the rank
re-employed in the Coast Guard. In addition Dearness Allowance, Kit Maintenance
Allowance, Island special duty allowance while posted at A&N Islands and any other
allowances as admissible. Other benefits as per Govt. orders will be applicable.
7. Travel Expenses:- SC/ST candidates, who are not employed by the
Central/State Government, will be reimbursed 2 nd class fare by train/ Govt bus/steamer
charges by the shortest route if the home station is beyond 30 kms from the place of
interview on production of ticket.
8. Last date of receipt of applications is 25 Apr 13. In respect of applications
received by post from candidates residing in North East regions (Assam, Meghalaya,
Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim) and Andaman &
Nicobar, Lakshadweep & Kavaratti Islands the last date is 30 Apr 13.
