Leipzig was founded in 1878 and is one <strong>of</strong> today’s most renowned<br />
animal parks in the world. It is also world-class in terms <strong>of</strong> the<br />
sheer number <strong>of</strong> animal species it accommodates. The Zoo is<br />
home to the world’s unique great apes enclosure Pongoland and<br />
so much more! Go on a joint expedition to the Kiwara Savannah,<br />
the Tiger Taiga or to the elephant temple Ganesha Mandir.<br />
Our latest theme and animal world Gondwanaland invites you<br />
to discover its fascinating tropical rainforest. Guided t<strong>our</strong>s will be<br />
on <strong>of</strong>fer from autum/winter 2011. The super continent Gondwanaland<br />
is home to 540 exotic animal and plant species waiting to<br />
be explored via suspension bridges, jungle paths or during a boat<br />

In the Kiwara Savannah you can marvel at the king <strong>of</strong> animals<br />
and his “subjects”, such as the giraffes, scimitar-horned oryx,<br />
zebras and ostriches. More fascinating <strong>of</strong>fers, including the<br />
African lunch at the Kiwara Lodge, will invite you to enjoy the<br />
authentic world <strong>of</strong> Africa – with all <strong>y<strong>our</strong></strong> senses.<br />

Mandir. Visitors are taken on a trip into the natural habitatlook-alike<br />
enclosures <strong>of</strong> Siberian tigers, wide-winged wood<br />

specially-trained Zoo guides with exciting quiz questions,<br />
picture puzzles and animal memory<br />
