Always disconnect the battery earth cable
when working on the electrics.
Never put tools on a battery. This may cause
short circuiting and may in the worst case
cause the battery to explode.
CHARGING
Always let frozen batteries thaw
before charging.
Remove all battery plugs before
charging.
First connect the battery charger’s + clamp
to the battery’s + pole and then connect the
- clamp to the - pole.
After charging, shut the battery charger off,
then first disconnect the - clamp before
disconnecting the + clamp.
During “normal charging”, the battery cables
do not have to be disconnected.
During “quick-charging”, both battery cables
must be disconnected.
WELDING
No welding is to be carried out on the chassis.
When welding, the battery cables must
first be disconnected. Disconnect all electric
connections between the Central E-panel
and the chassis and disconnect all
connections of the electronic units.
Make sure that the welder’s earth clamp is
set as closely as possible to the area on
the vehicle where the welding is to be
carried out and that contact is made with
the part to be welded. Do not attach the
earth clamp to springs or axles. Avoid
welding spatter on pneumatic wires, springs,
etc.
STARTING
Starting the vehicle using separate booster
batteries (about 24 Volts) or with the help of
another vehicle’s running engine (about 28
Volts) is permitted (the use of emergency
starting apparatus is not permitted). The
battery cables should not be disconnected.
If possible, place a peak-voltage cut-out
between the battery poles. First connect the
+ clamp, then the - clamp with the jumper
cables.
When ready, first disconnect the - clamp,
then the + clamp.
If the batteries are completely empty and
the engine to be started is running:
- Turn on as many power consumers as
possible.
- Then disconnect the jumper cables.
- Turn the power consumers off.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS
Pollution constitutes a serious threat to the
environment. In order to minimise pollution,
we recommend the following rules.
- Do not throw away used oil, hydraulic oil
or coolant in the drainage system,
sewers or just on the ground. This is also
illegal. These substances should be sent
back to the designated agency to be reused
or disposed of.
- Make sure the vehicle is regularly checked-up.
A well-maintained vehicle
contributes to maximum fuel economy
and a reduction in polluting emission
gases.
