Remove oil dipstick (1) from the holder. 3. Clean the dipstick with a non-fluff cloth. 4. Replace the dipstick in the holder and wait a few seconds. 5. Again remove the dipstick and take the oil level reading. The oil level should always be between the two marks. 6. If necessary, top up oil through filler hole (2). Always use oil of the same brand and quality grade. Never over-fill! Note: Difference between maximum and minimum for the engine: approx 4 litres. For vehicles equipped with an automatic sump refill unit, the oil level in the tank must be between the maximum and minimum marks. Top up as necessary via the filler opening (3). The automatic sump refill unit does not work when the oil level is below the minimum level. CHECKING THE COOLANT LEVEL Important! - Check the coolant level while the engine is cold. When the coolant is hot, there is overpressure in the cooling system. Carefully unscrew the filler cap (e.g. by putting a cloth over the cap first) to the stop to release the overpressure. Then push the filler cap down and unscrew it. MAINTENANCE 51
