E-GAS (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE
CONTROL)*
General
Under the accelerator pedal there is a
sensor which transmits signals to the
electronic control unit indicating the position
of the accelerator pedal. On the governor
of the fuel injection pump there is an
electrical actuator which responds to the
signals from the electronic control unit which
makes it possible to vary the engine speed.
The engine speed can be adjusted from
between stationary and 1200 rpm using the
E-gas system whilst the speed is less than
7 km/h. The idle engine speed control keeps
the idle engine speed constant to the set
value. Use can also be made of the speed
control, “cruise control”, for speeds above
25 or 50 km/h (depending on the programming).
Vehicle speed control
The EGAS vehicle speed control works as
of 25 or 50 km/h.
Drive at the required speed and move the
tumbler set switch (G) on the instrument
panel briefly to left or right. This speed is
now entered into the EGAS memory.
Operating the brake pedal, the parking
brake, the engine brake or the memory/stop
button for whatever reason will immediately
disengage the speed control.
To resume the set speed, simply press the
memory/stop button (F). The memory
retains the last set speed until the contact
is switched off.
If a different speed (different to the set
speed) is required, this can be obtained by
sliding tumbler set switch G on the steering
column stalk to reduce speed (to the left)
or to increase speed (to the right) without
having to use the accelerator pedal. The last
set speed is retained in the memory.
Note:
The vehicle speed control should only be
used when the traffic situation allows a constant
speed to be maintained.
Warning!
Do not use the vehicle speed
control in heavy traffic or on
winding or slippery roads.
Engine speed control
The engine speed control works up to 7.5
km/h.
With setswitch G on the steering column
stalk the engine speed can be varied from
idling to 1,200 rpm. The engine speed remains
constant at varying loads. The vehicle
speed is limited to 7.5 km/h. The set speed
can be overruled by using the accelerator
pedal. When the accelerator pedal is
released, the set engine speed is
automatically restored.
