CLEANING
Cleaning the vehicle.
When using a high-pressure cleaning device
is used, note the following:
- Make sure all doors, windows and roof
hatchets are closed.
- Do not aim directly at the seals. They
may be blown open, causing the
lubricant behind them to be washed
away. This may happen to the swivel joint
of the steering house, for instance.
The swivel joint’s cross piece will then
get stuck, which results in “sticky” steering.
- Water may enter the steering oil reservoir
through the bleeder.
This damages the steering gear.
- When cleaning the radiator/intercooler,
make sure that the fins are not
damaged.
- Do not aim the beam at the air
conditioning system’s condenser for a
prolonged period of time. The rise in
temperature will cause the pressure in
the system to become too high. This has
a damaging effect.
- Make sure no water enters the
differential and gearbox through the
bleeders.
- Make sure no water enters the clutch,
brakes, etc. through the reservoir bleeder.
- The engine and engine compartment
may be cleaned with a high-pressure
cleaning device. Do not aim directly at
electric components such as starter
motor, alternator, etc.
- Carefully clean the engine encapsulation
and encapsulation parts. Make sure that
spoilt oil is removed (fire hazard).
- Do not aim the high-pressure cleaning
device’s beam at electric connections
like connectors, lighting wires, etc.
- Make sure no water enters the air inlet
system through the air inlet or its flexible
seals.
- Make sure no water enters via the oil
dipstick.
- After cleaning, the vehicle has to be
lubricated by means of a grease gun or
by means of the central lubrication
system. This helps to keep moisture and
dirt from entering the various pivots.
Note
Before cleaning the vehicle, check if there
are any leakages in the engine, axles,
gearbox, etc. It is not possible to do this after
cleaning the vehicle, during maintenance
activities.
