Skip Farber
announced he was
stepping down as CEO
of the WSA less than
a year after selling the
semi-annual footwear
and accessories
exhibition to ENK
International. Farber Skip Farber
said he would continue
as a consultant to the WSA Show, but as
a result of serious health-related issues,
indicated he was dropping the hectic
pace and the heavy workload he had
shouldered in a career in the industry that
spanned three decades. Farber joined the
World Shoe Association as CEO in 2004
and re-energized the semi-annual event
into the premier event for the footwear

Andrew Goodenough was named
CEO of Summit Business Media,
replacing William Reilly who remained
as chairman of the board. Goodenough
is president of the publishing and events
company and will now handle its dayto-day

Lori Kisner was named senior vice
president of the Business-to-Retail
division at dmg world media. The new
portfolio includes Surf Expo, of which
Kisner was show manager for 14 years.
The division, based in Atlanta, includes
the California Gift Show and gift shows
in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco.
Roy Turner, director of buyer relations
for SurfExpo, was moved up to show
director. Nikki Houston is leaving dmg
world media to become show director
of the Imprinted Sportswear shows. Houston
had been with SurfExpo for nine years.
Sales Director Amy Hornby stepped
into Houston’s role as account executive
for the Surf category. Doog Becker
added the Wind category to his current
responsibilities as account executive for

Lou Pavledes pleaded guilty August 7
in U.S. District Court
to charges related to
more than $97,000 in
bribes he was accused
of taking from a
service contractor in
2003 while he was
the director of Cobo
Convention Center
in Detroit. Pavledes
remained free on
Lou Pavledes
bond pending sentencing in December.
Prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s office
said that while Pavledes faced up to five
years in prison, they would recommend
11 months in prison if he cooperated
with a continuing investigation. When
reached by telephone, Pavledes told
