Public Takes Part
in Eco Expo Asia
Hong Kong – The people of Hong Kong
were invited to get on the green bandwagon
at Eco Expo Asia in October.
The general public was invited to attend
a day-long program on sustainability and
low-carbon technology and also shop for
environmentally friendly products at the
Sunday Green Mart. A highlight of the
market was the Dong-Feng electric car,
which was available for test drives at
the AsiaWorld-Expo.
The public day took place the day
before the official opening of the October
29-30 conference, which was expected
to equal last year’s 8,200 square meters
(88,264 square feet) of gross exhibit
space and nearly 9,000 attendees.
The conference highlight was a forum
for officials from China’s national, provincial
and municipal governments as well
as representatives from the neighboring
ASEAN nations. The development of the
sustainability industry has been listed as
a priority under China’s current five-year
economic plan.
Eco Expo Asia is organized by Messe
Frankfurt (HK) Ltd., and the Hong
Kong Trade Development Council.

Offer Deals for
Meeting Planners
Macao – The Venetian® Macao Resort
Hotel launched an aggressive event sales
campaign this Fall to close out it bookings
for the year. The “Yes! Meet You in
Macao” offer includes a menu of valueadded
benefits for planners who book
their 2013 events by December 31. The
benefits, which are awarded based on the
number of room nights booked, include
complimentary cocktail receptions, WiFi
access and transportation to Hong Kong.
The Venetian Macao offers 100,000
square meters of exhibit space plus
flexible meeting and ballroom space.
The resort also closed out its second
annual Ice World exhibit, an ice-sculpture
display that drew more than 176,000
visitors in its four-month run ending
September 16.

SHANGHAI
Shanghai to Host
2013 ICCA Congress
Shanghai – The International Congress
and Convention Association (ICCA)
recently selected Shanghai to be the
host city for its 2013 annual meeting.
The 52nd Congress of the ICCA will take
place November 2-6, 2013 at the Shanghai
International Convention Center. Landing
the conference was a nice win for the
Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration,
which is seeking to push Shanghai
into the top tier of Asian trade show cities.
Chinese members of the ICCA will also
use the event as a platform for networking
with potential overseas partners, and
to show off China’s impressive trade show
infrastructure. Details of the Congress
were being worked out by an organizing
committee that was formed by the ICCA
China Committee in September.
