The President advised that to
date, 50,000 signatures have been
collected for the petition.

3.1.2.1 Police Officers
Entering Court
Following discussion, it was
agreed that a letter be sent to
the Chief Executive Officer,
Magistrates’ Court of Victoria
requesting a meeting to discuss
the issue further. At this meeting,
the sentiments of the Executive
would be conveyed. The Executive
are supportive of having security
in place, but if a police member
provides bone fide identification;
he/she should be permitted to
pass straight through the security
checking point. If following the
meeting, the CEO doesn’t change
her stance, the Executive would
be requested to formulate a policy
position on the matter.
The meeting adjourned at 10:30am
for the Legal Representation Cost Fund
applications and resumed at 11:12am.

Your Letters Continued
Sporting thanks
On behalf of the members of the
Victoria Police Cycling Club I thank
you for the continued support of
police sporting clubs though the
Victoria Police Sports & Welfare
Society.
Our club has again been
allocated a grant and it is the
support of your organisation that
clubs like ours are able to function
effectively.
The grant for 2007/2008 has been
used in the following way:
• Subsidise kids taking part in
our annual Easterbike event
in Ballarat
• Railtrails Australia membership
• Subsidise members taking part in
our annual Around the Bay event
• Trailer repairs and registration/
insurance
• Consumer Affairs fees
• Replace and/or purchase club
equipment
Our major event in 2008/2009
was an 18-day cycling tour of
Tasmania. This was part of the
club’s 20 th anniversary celebration.
With 39 members taking part, we
cycled some 850 kms. Planning has
now commenced for our 2011 tour
of the south island of New Zealand.
This will also be over 18 days.
Once again we thank you for
your continued support of police
sporting clubs.
