We are currently seeking a Meter Reader to join <strong>our</strong> <strong>team</strong> in<br />
the G area. As a meter reader, you will travel around<br />
reading and recording information from customer’s meters to an<br />
electronic hand held device in both residential and rural areas.<br />
You will carry out site risk assessments and review the condition<br />
of meters and other <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> equipment.<br />
To be successful in this role, you will have:<br />
•The ability to walk from 15-30kms per day in all weather<br />
conditions<br />
•A current lass C drivers licence and the ability to drive a<br />
manual vehicle<br />
•Basic computer skills together with good attention to detail<br />
•Exceptional customer service standards.<br />

ROLE STATEMENT<br />
1 POSITION SUMMARY and OBJECTIVES<br />
The Meter Reader is responsible for providing a high level of customer focus, frontline service<br />
ensuring a timely and accurate reading and recording of Information from customer’s meters to<br />
meet market requirements. The Meter Reader will liaise with key stakeholders and <strong>Essential</strong><br />
<strong>Energy</strong> business units to achieve excellence in line with <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>’s strategy.<br />
The Meter Reader is required to:<br />

Carry out risk assessment for every premises before entering site in line with organisational<br />
policies and procedures and comply strictly with site requirements, hazard warnings, special<br />
arrangements and safe work method statement on every visit to ensure on site safety for<br />
employees and customers<br />
Provide accurate reading of meters at customer’s premises using hand held meter reading<br />
device, liaising with customers to obtain safe and unhindered access to the metering location<br />
Walk 15 – 30 kms per day in varied weather conditions and drive substantial distances as<br />
required, to read meters as per roster<br />
Ensure meter reading rounds are accurately uploaded and downloaded on a daily basis and<br />
that all email relating to access PTJs, check reads etc are read and actioned in a timely<br />
manner<br />
Assess the status of relevant control equipment, condition of meters and installations to<br />
assist in the upkeep and maintenance, including damaged, unsealed or suspected tampering<br />
of meters<br />
Immediately advise Manager if unable to complete round on time or if reading work not<br />
allocated for that day<br />
Treat customers c<strong>our</strong>teously referring them to <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>’s Contact Centres for further<br />
information and assistance<br />
Maintain neat presentation, wearing uniforms, and driving and maintaining vehicles as per<br />
CEM7105 Drivers Handbook<br />
Maintain regular communication with Manager to ensure safety and business objectives are<br />
met.<br />
2 REPORTING / WORKING RELATIONSHIPS<br />
The Meter Reader reports to the Meter Reading Regional Manager<br />
