14.3.3 Protection Coordination<br />
14.3.4 Auditing<br />
<strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> requires full grading with the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s first line of<br />
protection to guarantee correct fault discrimination<br />
The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant, in liaison with <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>‟s protection group, will<br />
negotiate settings to the generator‟s protection equipment. These settings may not be<br />
modified without <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>‟s prior agreement.<br />
<strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> may need to audit maintenance records at any time upon negotiation<br />
with the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant<br />
<strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> may request that maintenance be carried out within a nominated<br />
time period and relevant records forwarded to <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>.<br />
14.3.5 HV Operations under Normal Conditions<br />
14.3.5.1 Planned Switching Not Involving <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong><br />
The operation of all high voltage equipment at the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s site beyond<br />
and inclusive of the connection point is the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s responsibility and<br />
will normally be carried out by the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s authorised Operating Staff<br />
or authorised service provider<br />
The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant must notify <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>‟s Network Operations before<br />
any major new item of high voltage equipment is commissioned.<br />
14.3.5.2 Planned Switching Involving <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong><br />
The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant must give <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> Network Operations at least<br />
fifteen business days prior notice of when the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant plans to carry out<br />
routine maintenance of high voltage equipment that will require <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> to<br />
carry out network switching operations. When <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> requires the<br />
generator‟s equipment to be isolated for routine work on <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>‟s<br />
equipment, then the times will be negotiated on an individual job basis.<br />
14.3.6 HV Regulatory Requirements<br />
14.3.6.1 <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant’s Obligations<br />
The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant as a high voltage customer must comply with this Schedule<br />

The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s installation must be operated, isolated and made safe for<br />
work in accordance with the requirements of Electricity Supply (Safety and Network<br />
Management) Regulation 2008, which imposes obligations on network operators<br />
The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant must comply with the <strong>Essential</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> Network<br />
Management Plan Chapter 1 and Chapter 2<br />
The <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant (or their accredited service provider) must have a set of<br />
Electrical Safety Rules, complying with the Network Management Plan, Codes of<br />
Practice and AS 2467-2008 Maintenance of Electrical Switchgear and Appendix A<br />
Example of Electrical Safety Rules, covering the operation of the electrical installation<br />
All employees engaged in work on the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s high voltage electrical<br />
apparatus must be trained, assessed for competence and audited by the <strong>Connection</strong><br />
Applicant as being competent to work in accordance with the <strong>Connection</strong> Applicant‟s<br />
