DATA SHEET
ClovaMastic is a high performance, surface tolerant, epoxy mastic coating. It is a two component multi-purpose coating
exhibiting high solids and low VOC, with excellent chemical and corrosion resistant properties. This product in approved
under Master Painters Inc.Category #98.
ClovaMastic can be applied directly to steel where abrasive blasting is not practical. It has improved surface wetting capabilities
providing for superior surface tolerance and adhesion. Can be used to upgrade tightly adhered conventional coatings for improved
moisture, chemical and corrosion resistance. May also be applied to moderately damp surfaces. The high solids provides for ease of
film thickness achievement when used as a one coat maintenance finish or as an intermediate or finish coat over zinc rich primers. For
use on storage tanks, oil and gas equipment, machinery and structural steel in pulp and paper mills, refineries, sewage treatment
plants, marine and heavy industrial areas.
Surface Preparation
Surface to be coated must be clean, dry and free from loose mill scale, weld spatter, oil, grease or other contaminants.
Minimum surface preparation for steel in non-immersion service is SSPC-SP3 Power Tool Cleaning. Non-ferrous
metals must be scarified by sweep blasting or other mechanical means. For immersion service the minimum surface
prep is SSPC-SP6 Commercial Blast Cleaning. Performance and service life is enhanced with better surface
preparation such as SSPC-SP10 Near White Blast Cleaning. Existing finishing should be tested for film integrity. If
found to be sound, apply several test patches and inspect for adhesion, lifting or wrinkling before proceeding with
project.
Limitations
Do not use for potable water service. Typical of epoxy coatings, this product will chalk and yellow in direct sunlight. For
best results apply when substrate temperature is above 10 o C (50 o F), and a minimum of 3 o C (5 o F) above the dew point.
Application should not proceed when the relative humidity is above 85%. It is not recommended to overcoat loose rust,
rust scale, salts or other contaminants that may be on the substrate.
Mixing Instructions
Mix base A component and curing agent 83100 B separately with good agitation. Add curing agent to base component
and mix thoroughly until homogenous. Allow to react in can for 15 minutes (induction time). If thinning is necessary or
required, proceed only after recommended induction time has passed.
Safety Precautions
