80 The <strong>Kabbalah</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong><br />
this section is missing, though Taylor remembers it being taught in <strong>the</strong><br />
early 1930s at Whare Ra. Attached to this were also translations <strong>of</strong> portions<br />
<strong>of</strong> Franck's work on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kabbalah</strong> and that <strong>of</strong> Ginsburg and jellinek.<br />
These were done in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> proper, and not <strong>the</strong> Stella Matutina,<br />
according to Taylor. I have taken <strong>the</strong> liberty <strong>of</strong> expanding <strong>the</strong> skeletonic<br />
framework <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se notes, that were given out in lecture form, and<br />
combining it with o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> lectures to form <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong> this<br />
section <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> book.<br />
To call <strong>the</strong>se papers un<strong>of</strong>ficial may be misleading, as <strong>the</strong>re were a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> very valuable documents that Ma<strong>the</strong>rs translated and that<br />
were circulated among <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> Adepti which could be termed<br />
un<strong>of</strong>ficial, yet still were studied widely. Regardie, I feel, was <strong>the</strong> one who<br />
perpetrated this mistaken type <strong>of</strong> thinking about <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> papers.<br />
What one Temple deemed <strong>of</strong>ficial ano<strong>the</strong>r Temple did not, hence <strong>the</strong><br />
apparent confusion over <strong>the</strong> status <strong>of</strong> certain documents. I have in my<br />
possession a number <strong>of</strong> notes made by Ma<strong>the</strong>rs on <strong>the</strong> Tarot that were<br />
classed as <strong>of</strong>ficial by Whare Ra tutors and students alike, yet were never<br />
shown nor published in collections <strong>of</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> material. These<br />
notes were not classed as Knowledge Lectures but "side lectures," and are<br />
not to be confused with <strong>the</strong> Flying Rolls.<br />
In certain <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> papers <strong>the</strong>re are some very subtle<br />
<strong>the</strong>ories which can only have come from <strong>the</strong> Partsufim concept, though<br />
<strong>the</strong>y have never been acknowledged openly as such. For example, within<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> Tarot scheme, all <strong>the</strong> Court Cards are based on <strong>the</strong><br />
Partsufim <strong>the</strong>ory. A failure to understand <strong>the</strong> Parrsufim <strong>the</strong>ory will prevent<br />
<strong>the</strong> gaining <strong>of</strong> understanding, not merely <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Court Cards and<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir formation, as used within <strong>the</strong> Order, but also <strong>of</strong> many Kabbalistic<br />
concepts.<br />
One <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> things that has <strong>of</strong>ten amazed me about this Partsufim<br />
section is that it is largely ignored by students <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kabbalah</strong> in favor <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Sephirotic system despite being <strong>of</strong> equal importance. In fact, it is an<br />
additional dimensional and crucial concept <strong>of</strong> Kabbalistic study. It is for<br />
this reason we are going to devote a great deal <strong>of</strong> space to it.<br />
In order to understand <strong>the</strong> concept <strong>of</strong> creation, before, during and<br />
after <strong>the</strong> Fall <strong>of</strong> Man, <strong>the</strong> heavens were mapped out in <strong>the</strong> form <strong>of</strong> a<br />
face or countenance <strong>of</strong> Man, which was said to reflect God's image.<br />
Each part <strong>of</strong> this face has a certain significance and is applied to Kab-
