NATIONAL INNOVATIONS DIPLOMA IN BANKING OPERATIONS<br />
GOAL<br />
The Goal of this programme is to produce diplomates who have the basic theoretical and practical competences to perform entry<br />
level tasks <strong>in</strong> a Bank.<br />
OBJECTIVES<br />
At the end of this programme, the student should be able to perform the follow<strong>in</strong>g tasks <strong>in</strong> a Bank:<br />
1. Domestic operations<br />
2. Customer service<br />
3. Credit & Market<strong>in</strong>g<br />
4. Foreign operations<br />

<strong>NID</strong> IN BANKING OPERATIONS<br />
MINIMUM ENTRY QUALIFICATION<br />
The general entry requirements for the National Innovation Diploma (<strong>NID</strong>) programme are:<br />
a) M<strong>in</strong>imum Credit passes <strong>in</strong> five subjects obta<strong>in</strong>ed at maximum of two sitt<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong>:<br />
i) the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate exam<strong>in</strong>ations;<br />
ii)<br />
iii)<br />
iv)<br />
the National Exam<strong>in</strong>ations Council exam<strong>in</strong>ations; and<br />
the General Certificate of Education (“O” Level); or<br />
any such equivalents to above.<br />
b) The credit passes should compulsorily <strong>in</strong>clude English Language and Mathematics, and any three of the follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />
economics, commerce, pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of accounts, bus<strong>in</strong>ess methods, literature-<strong>in</strong>-english, government, history, geography,<br />
statistics, agric science and biology.<br />
PROGRAMME DURATION<br />
The <strong>NID</strong> programme <strong>in</strong> Bank<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Operations</strong> is structured to run for three semesters of classroom and practical works, and one<br />
semester of supervised <strong>in</strong>dustrial work experience scheme (SIWES) with relevant f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong>stitutions such as Commercial<br />
Banks, Micro-f<strong>in</strong>ance <strong>in</strong>stitutions, Bureau-de-change, Stock-brok<strong>in</strong>g firms, and so on.<br />

EVALUATION<br />
For the purpose of award<strong>in</strong>g the National Innovation Diploma <strong>in</strong> Bank<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Operations</strong>, the students’ work shall be evaluated on the<br />
basis of Practical work, Exam<strong>in</strong>ations and Tests assessed per subject and SIWES, per semester, as follows:<br />
Practical - 70%<br />
Exam<strong>in</strong>ations - 20%<br />
Class Tests - 10%<br />
100%<br />
SIWES is programmed to take place dur<strong>in</strong>g the third semester of the 4-semester programme. However, the <strong>in</strong>stitution shall be at<br />
liberty to split the period of attachment <strong>in</strong>to two between the second and fourth semesters.<br />
The weight<strong>in</strong>g of each of the components of subjects and SIWES shall be as follows:<br />
General Studies - 10% (m<strong>in</strong>imum)<br />
Foundation Studies - 15% (m<strong>in</strong>imum)<br />
Industrial Attachment (SIWES) - 25% (m<strong>in</strong>imum)<br />
