Tempera
The MILAN tempera range combines high quality and non-toxic pigments, water, a binder
and calcium carbonate, among other components. Its 16 colours are light resistant,
opaque and mixable. MILAN tempera is notable for its viscosity and plasticity.

Pigments
The pigments used in MILAN postercolours
are of the highest quality, lightfast and safe,
complying with European (EN71) and North
American ASTM regulations.
The 16 colours of the range can be blended
together.

Safe
MILAN tempera is safe, odourless and
non toxic.
Drying
Dries quickly and can be used on
paper, cardboard and wood, among
other media.
Washable
Washable from most types of fabrics.
Suitable for children
of three years old and
upwards.

Application
MILAN tempera can be applied with
a sponge brush, which allows the
application of a uniform layer of paint
to the paper. MILAN sponge brushes
allow the creation of a variety of
different types of prints on paper.
The brushes for watercolours and
tempera allow detail painting as well
as painting of large surfaces.
Techniques:
monotypes
MONOTYPES
Creation of Monotypes
(monotype is a unique and
original type of printing).
Firstly, a thick paint is applied
on a sheet of paper.
The monotype is obtained by
placing a new sheet of paper
on the drawing and pressing
the two sheets of paper
together, while the drawing
is wet. The thick paint allows
several different monotypes
of the same painting.

Techniques
50% white Solid colour wash of colour
Tone effects Textures Watercolours
The colour can be mixed with 50% white to create a
solid and opaque tone. The white tone can be mixed
with water to create a wash of colour.
MILAN tempera can be used directly
from the pot, with a bristle brush,
such as brushes 212 and 211.
The paint allows textures to be created on
the paper.
The MILAN tempera allows washes and
creates transparencies of tones. The
transparent strokes resemble the effects
of watercolours.

Techniques
Transparency Coloured paper Overlapping
Paint can be applied with a pony hair
brush and water. The painting allows
transparencies of tone.
The strokes produce transparencies,
overlapping two different colours.
On coloured paper, the colour has been
applied directly and it is distinguished by its
opacity and homogeneity. The tone has a lot
of transparency, when applied with water.
The strokes are homogeneous, opaque
and shiny. The brown tone has been
applied over the blue tone.
