The benefits. The participation of South

and especially the launch of the Supplier
Portal will provide great benefits.
It will allow easy access to all the required
information in real-time and will also
provide paperless online procedures and
paperless documentation.

transparent and therefore closer.
All processes that will take place on the
Supplier Portal were re-engineered and
put on SAP. This will lead to a more
streamlined, faster and in the end a more
efficient industrialization workflow,” says
Freudenberger.
In addition, he points out the synergy
between SAP-based processes and their
utilisation on the Supplier Portal will be
advantageous for the suppliers and DCSA.
“The Portal and the Processes behind it
will reduce overheads and in the long run
provide significant cost savings,” he says.
The Project “Supplier Portal”. The most
efficient way to run such a complex project
was to create a cross-functional project
team.
This team comprises specialists from
Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics and

Quality Assurance and is managed by
Procurement & Export.
Other functional areas within DCSA and
our supplier partners will be involved in
the Supplier Portal project.
At this point the participating crossfunctional
teams identify their specific
requirements and create detailed process
documentations concerning hard- and
software and will start programming the
Supplier Portal and its applications in the
first quarter of 2002.
After several quality gates testing, DCSA
expects the Supplier Portal to go live in
August 2002.
