c. Action taken pursuant to this code section will improve the environment by reducing
visual clutter and the overuse of green space in neighborhoods.
Accordingly, this Local Law is adopted with a negative SEQRA Declaration.
2. This Board takes note of the positive recommendation of the Planning Board of the Town
of DeWitt made by resolution adopted August 28, 2008, and incorporates said resolution into
these findings.
3. This Board takes note of the findings of Syracuse Onondaga County Planning Agency
which found no countywide negative impact with respect to this legislation.
4. The public comment on this legislation was mostly, if not totally, in favor of the passage
of the legislation.
5. This legislation addresses the longstanding and ongoing issue of the proliferation of
recreational and commercial vehicle storage in residential neighborhoods.
6. This Board finds that the residents of the Town have one (1) year pursuant to this
legislation to comply with the code or make other arrangements for storage of non-complying
vehicles. Also, the legislation provides a method for neighborhoods to opt out of or be exempt
from the effects of the legislation.
7. This Local Law comes with the recommendation with the Zoning Update Committee
following its study of these matters.

A Local Law Regarding Residential Vehicle Storage and Overlay District
Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of DeWitt as follows:
Section 1. Title
This local law shall be referred to as "Local Law Regarding Residential Vehicle Storage and Overlay
District".
Section 2. Purpose and Intent.
Pursuant to the statutory powers vested in the Town of DeWitt (also referred to herein as the
"Town") to regulate and control land use and to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents,
