Exploring New Features in Atomic Learning
As always, the Instructional Technology team does its best to provide Touro faculty members with
up-to-date training on the newest software and technologies. Although we offer many different
workshops, webinars, training sessions, mentoring sessions, as well as presentations to introduce
new technologies, it is hard for busy faculty members to keep up with every new feature in all the
technology applications they use. Many of us employ software like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
and Blackboard every day and still run into some issues with these tools. Wouldn’t it be easier to get
the training for a specific feature in an application that you are working on, while you’re working on it?
Atomic Learning does just that – and gives you access to many additional tools, too!
Atomic Learning is an online technology training and professional development tool for educators. It
offers a complete library of over 50,000 video clips, providing training on over 200 of the most common
software applications, like Blackboard, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash,
InDesign, and much more.
The best part is that you don’t have to view long video tutorials to find what you are looking for.
Tutorials on every application are divided into many small video clips (about 1 – 4 minutes), each of
which concentrate on one aspect of the program. You can either look up a video tutorial based on a
topic or you can assign yourself a training project tutorial.
Let’s say you need help with posting a new thread in Blackboard. You can find a short video clip on the
topic by searching for “discussion board” in the Blackboard 8 tutorials.
