9) Ensure tourism needs are incorporated into planning for the protection and enhancement of the Swan River
The Swan River is a significant, but possibly underutilised, natural asset on which many attractions and activities in the region are based. Currently, the Swan River
Protection Strategy is being developed to establish a coordinated management plan to protect and enhance the amenity of this significant natural asset. In developing this
strategy, it is essential that tourism related needs are considered.

Heirisson Island (located on the Swan River between East Perth and Victoria Park) has significant potential from a tourism perspective due to its natural and cultural
heritage and its proximity to the city. In recognition of this potential, the Heirisson Island Sculpture Park Committee has plans to develop a world class sculpture park
on the island.

11) Identify a permanent site for the Perth Helipad within the Perth environs
Currently, the Perth Helipad is temporarily located in East Perth near Trinity College. However, with the planned redevelopment of the East Perth area (the Riverside
development), this helipad will need to be relocated. As a result, the identification of a permanent site for this helipad within the Perth environs is seen as a priority.
