Elisa Kolln came to Western Australia on a round-
Australia adventure. Her job at Cable Beach Club
Resort in Broome has given her career advancement
and the chance to experience an excitingly different
environment.
“I did a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management
in Sydney then worked on Hayman Island. My partner
and I wanted to see Australia. We drove across the
north, down to Uluru.
“I started at Cable Beach Club Resort Broome in
food and beverage and then transferred to human
resources. As HR coordinator I deal with a range of
issues including recruitment, dealing with employee
issues and staff accommodation. It’s very good
experience and really interesting – there’s never a
dull day!
“I want to stay in HR in the tourism industry and later on
I hope to work with local councils on sustainable tourism.
“The best thing is getting out and experiencing
Australia. You have to know your product and
experience it yourself to share it with your guests.
“WA is different. The drive along the huge expanse
of coast was amazing – Coral Bay, Exmouth, and
seeing the sun set over the water. I’m looking forward
to going to the Bungle Bungles – I’m interested in
Aboriginal heritage.
“It’s the same country but with a different feel to it.”
