Disassembly (Fig. 80)<br />

1. Plug motor ports and clean the outside of the motor<br />

thoroughly. After cleaning, remove plugs and drain any<br />

oil out of the motor.<br />

2. Straighten tabs on tab washer to allow removal of nut<br />

from motor shaft. Remove tab washer, spider hub and<br />

woodruff key from motor.<br />

6. Take motor from the vise and remove cap screws.<br />

7. Remove front flange from the body, then remove rear<br />

cover. Locate and remove dowel pins from body.<br />

DIAGONAL MARK<br />

3. Useamarkertomakeadiagonal mark across the<br />

front flange, body and rear cover for assembly purposes<br />

(Fig. 81).<br />

IMPORTANT: Prevent damage when clamping the<br />

deck motor into a vise; clamp on the front flange<br />

only. Also, use a vise with soft jaws.<br />

4. Clamp front flange of motor in a vise equipped with<br />

soft jaws with the shaft end down.<br />
