Troubleshooting Chart<br />

The chart that follows contains suggestions that can be<br />

used to assist in diagnosing Sonic Boom System performance<br />

issues. These suggestions are not all--inclusive.<br />

Also, consider that there may be more than one cause<br />

for a machine problem.<br />

NOTE: When troubleshooting an electrical problem on<br />

your Sonic Boom System, refer to information regarding<br />

the sonic boom light in this section. Also, use the Diagnostic<br />

Display (see Special Tools in this chapter) to test<br />

electronic control unit (ECU) inputs and outputs.<br />

<strong>Pro</strong>blem<br />

Sonic boom light is not illuminated.<br />

Possible Cause<br />

Sonic mode switch is in the OFF position.<br />

5 amp or 10 amp fuse in sonic boom fuse block is faulty.<br />

Electrical power from vehicle is not available (all sonic boom functions<br />

are affected).<br />

Sonic boom light or circuit wiring is faulty.<br />

Sonic mode switch or circuit wiring is faulty.<br />

LED on one of the sonic boom sensors<br />

is not illuminated.<br />

LED on both of the sonic boom sensors<br />

is not illuminated.<br />

Sonic boom sensor or circuit wiring is faulty.<br />

Sonic mode switch is in the OFF position.<br />

5 amp fuse in sonic boom fuse block is faulty.<br />

Sonic mode switch or circuit wiring is faulty.<br />

One of the boom actuators will not<br />

retract.<br />

30 amp auto resetting fuse for affected boom actuator is faulty.<br />

Power switch relay or circuit wiring for affected boom actuator is<br />

faulty.<br />

One or both of the H--bridge relays or circuit wiring for the affected<br />

boom actuator is faulty.<br />

Boom actuator switch or circuit wiring for affected boom actuator is<br />

faulty.<br />

Affected boom actuator or circuit wiring is faulty.<br />

Neither of the boom actuators will<br />

retract.<br />

Loop back connector is unplugged from wire harness connector.<br />

5 amp or 10 amp fuse in sonic boom fuse block is faulty.<br />

Electrical power from vehicle is not available (all sonic boom functions<br />

are affected).<br />

Both of the boom actuator 30 amp auto resetting fuses are faulty.<br />

ECU or circuit wiring is faulty.<br />
