TOP FAIR ISH 2013

Editorial 

Die ISH 2013 bietet die weltgrößte Leistungsschau 

für innovatives Baddesign, energieeffiziente 

Heizungs- und Klimatechnik und erneuerbare Energien. 

Insgesamt 2.427 Firmen aus aller Welt stellen 

auf dem Frankfurter Messegelände fünf Tage lang 

alle Weltneuheiten und Trends für zukunftsweisende 

Gebäude vor. TOP FAIR ISH sprach mit Stefan Seitz, 

Leiter Brandmanagement ISH. 

Herr Seitz, was sind die Themen auf der diesjährigen 

ISH? 

Dreh- und Angelpunkt der ISH 2013 und damit Mittelpunkt 

aller Produktbereiche ist das Thema Ressourcenschonung. 

Der Bereich ISH Water widmet sich dem 

Umgang mit der Ressource Wasser und setzt dabei 

Akzente in Richtung Trinkwasseraufbereitung und 

Nachhaltigkeit. Ergänzt wird dies um die Themen 

generationenübergreifendes Bad sowie Komplettbad 

und dem damit einhergehenden Trend zu ganzheitlichen 

Raumkonzepten, die das Bad innenarchitektonisch 

gliedern. Der Bereich ISH Energy fokussiert die 

Themen „Effiziente Heizungssysteme und erneuerbare 

Energien“ sowie „Energieeffizienz und Behaglichkeit in 

der Raumlufttechnik“. 

Was gibt es Neues auf der ISH 2013 im Vergleich 

zur Vorveranstaltung? 

Aufgrund der gestiegenen Nachfrage wird erstmals für 

den Bereich Haus- und Gebäudeautomation, Energiemanagement, 

Mess-, Prüf- und Regelungstechnik die 

Halle 10.3 als zusätzliche Fläche in Betrieb genommen. 

Zudem wird das Forum IKK Building erstmals in der 

Halle 10.2 stattfinden, wo auch zum ersten Mal weitere 

Aussteller aus dem Bereich Aircontec – Klima-, Kälteund 

Lüftungstechnik zu finden sind. 

Thematische Akzente setzt die ISH 2013 im Bereich 

ISH Water mit zwei neuen Rahmenprogrammpunkten: 

Mit der Sonderschau „wall + floor“ werden erstmals 

die Sortimente für Boden und Wand mit innovativen 

Produkten und Einrichtungskonzepten vertreten sein. 

In die Sonderschau integriert ist das „Pop up my Bathroom“-Atelier, 

in dem verschiedene Kreativ-Themen 

diskutiert werden. 

Erstmals zur ISH wird es eine Informations- und Kommunikationsplattform 

für den technischen Anlagenbau 

und die Immobilienwirtschaft geben. Unter dem Titel 

„BTGA – Forum für Immobilien, Energie und Technik“ 

bekommen Besucher im Portalhaus anhand von Projekten 

und Best-Practice-Beispielen alles rund um die 

Energiewende in der Immobilienwirtschaft präsentiert. 

Zur ISH veranstaltet der ZVSHK in Kooperation mit dem 

Europäischen Institut Design für Alle in Deutschland 

e.V. (EDAD) erstmalig den Wettbewerb „Badkomfort für 

Generationen“. Der Award fokussiert innovative Badprodukte, 

die Anforderungen an das barrierefreie Bauen 

mit Aspekten von Komfort und Sicherheit verbinden. 

ISH 2013 is the world’s largest exhibition for innovative 

bathroom design, energy-efficient heating, 

ventilation and air-conditioning and renewable 

energy. 2427 companies from all over the world 

will be showcasing the latest products and trends 

in pioneering building technology over five days at 

the Frankfurt Exhibition Center. 

TOP FAIR ISH talked to Stefan Seitz, Head of Brand 

Management for ISH. 

Mr Seitz, what are the themes of this year’s ISH? 

The subject of protecting natural resources is the dominant 

theme of ISH 2013 and therefore the focus for all 

product areas. The ISH Water section deals with this 

precious resource and focuses on water treatment and 

sustainability. These topics are supplemented by crossgeneration 

bathrooms, complete bathrooms and the 

associated trend of holistic room concepts and interior 

design. The ISH Energy section focuses on the twin 

topics of “efficient heating systems and renewable 

energies” and “energy efficiency and comfort in air 

conditioning”. 

What’s new at ISH 2013 compared to the last fair? 

In view of the increased demand for house and building 

automation, energy management, and instrumentation 

and control systems, level 10.3 in Hall 10 will be available 

for the first time as an additional venue. The IKK 

Building Forum will take place for the first time in Hall 

10.2 and there will also be exhibitors from the Aircontec 

sector (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) on that 

level for the first time. 

The Water section at ISH 2013 has two new framework 

programs. The special “wall + floor” show will highlight 

innovative products and furnishing concepts for floors 

and walls. Integrated in the special wall + floor show is 

the “Pop up my Bathroom” workshop in which various 

creative topics will be discussed. 

For the first time at ISH, there will be an information 

and communication platform for plant construction and 

the real-estate business. At “BTGA – Forum for Real 

Estate, Energy and Technology“ in the Portalhaus, visitors 

can find out about the switch to renewable energy 

in the property business based on actual projects and 

examples of best practice. 

ZVSHK (The German Sanitation, Heating and Air- 

Conditioning Federation) in cooperation with EDAD 

(European Institute for Design for All in Germany) 

design institute is organizing the “Bathroom Comfort 

for Generations” competition for the first time. The 

award focuses on innovative bathroom products that 

combine level-access design with aspects of comfort 

and safety.

Spielmacher beim Wassersparen 

Auf dem Rasen der Commerzbank-Arena kickt normalerweise die Frankfurter Eintracht, 

aber auch so manches Länderspiel wurde hier angepfiffen. Die Stones haben gerockt, 

ebenso wie Madonna und U2. Die Commerzbank-Arena ist Aushängeschild der Frankfurter 

Region nicht nur was Fußball oder Großveranstaltungen betrifft. Auch in Sachen Umweltschutz 

und Nachhaltigkeit ist das Stadion Vorreiter. 

Die klimaneutrale Versorgung mit Energie und der sorgsame Umgang mit der Ressource 

Wasser sind die zentralen Faktoren für das nachhaltige Fußballstadion. Beim Umbau des 

alten Waldstadions wurde eine Regenwassernutzung angelegt. Die Anlage versorgt die 

Bewässerung des grünen Rasens – dem Aushängeschild jeder Fußballarena – ebenso wie 

die Spülung der rund 430 Toiletten. Für die Regenwassernutzung befinden sich zwei große 

Zisternen mit einem nutzbaren Speichervolumen von circa 200 Kubikmeter im Bereich der 

Tiefgarage. Hier wird ein Teil des Regenwassers gesammelt, das von den Dachflächen 

abfließt. Das nicht gebrauchte Regenwasser versickert in einer Rigolenanlage und gelangt 

so auf natürliche Weise in den Wasserkreislauf zurück. 

Sparsamer Betrieb 

Der Sanitärbereich ist in Fußballstadien der größte Wasserverbraucher. Deshalb gingen die 

Arena-Betreiber auch in diesem Bereich neue Wege. Ein Beispiel sind die neuen Entspannungsbecken. 

Im warmen Beckenwasser erholen sich die Spieler nach einem anstrengendem 

Match. Statt eines großen gemeinsamen Beckens wurden in Frankfurt dagegen eine 

Reihe von kleinen Einzelbecken installiert. Diese nutzen jetzt die Sportler nur bei Bedarf 

und sparen dabei wertvolles Wasser. Nach Angaben der Mainova AG, die das Gelände mit 

Strom und Wasser versorgt, spart die Commerzbank-Arena mit allen Sparmaßnahmen 

6,5 Mio. Liter Trinkwasser pro Jahr. Dies entspricht ungefähr dem Tagesverbrauch einer 

Stadt wie Bad Homburg.

Green Goal: Noch mehr Wassereinsparpotenziale 

in Fußballstadien 

Für den Umweltschutz in Fußballstadien 

setzt sich die Initiative Green Goal ein. Sie 

ist eine Gemeinschaftsaktion von DFB, FIFA 

und Partnern wie dem Ökoinstitut in Freiburg. 

Im Zuge der Frauen-Weltmeisterschaft 

2011 hat die Initiative es geschafft, 

alle neun WM-Stadien nach dem Umweltmanagementsystem 

„Ökoprofit“ zu zertifizieren. 

Neben der Regenwassernutzung 

wie in Frankfurt, Sinsheim oder Berlin, 

kann auch intelligente Sanitärtechnik helfen, 

Wasser zu sparen. So sind zum Beispiel 

in Kaiserslautern, Nürnberg und Stuttgart 

wasserlose Urinale installiert. In fast 

allen Stadien sind Waschtische mit 

Wascharmaturen eingebaut, die die Durchflusszeiten 

begrenzen und den Wasserfluss 

automatisch stoppen.

Saving water is the goal 

The Commerzbank Arena is home to Eintracht Frankfurt but Germany also play some of 

their international football matches at this venue. The Stones have also set this stadium 

rocking, as have Madonna and U2. The Commerzbank Arena is an excellent advertisement 

for the Frankfurt region, and not only for football matches and rock concerts. The stadium 

also leads the field in environment protection and sustainability. 

A climate-neutral energy supply and the careful use of the precious resource of water are 

the key features for the sustainable ports stadium. When the old stadium was being rebuilt 

one of the main requirements was the efficient use of rainwater. The rainwater system 

provides water for keeping the grass in prime condition – an important consideration for 

a football stadium – and for supplying the 430 toilets in and around the stadium. The rainwater 

system includes two huge buried cisterns capable of holding about 200 cubic meters 

of water. This is where some of the rainwater flowing off the roof is stored. The rainwater 

that is not needed is allowed to drain off into a trench system and return naturally to the 

water cycle. 

Economical operation 

The sanitation facilities are the greatest consumer of water in any football stadium. The 

operators of the Arena therefore decided to take a new approach to this problem. The new 

relaxation pools are a good example. After a match the players recover in a pool full of 

warm water. Normally in major stadiums there are large communal pools. In Frankfurt, 

however, a series of small individual pools have been installed. The players only use as 

many as they need, saving valuable water. According to Mainova AG, the company that 

supplies the facility with electricity and water, all the measures designed to make savings 

at the Commerzbank Arena combine to save 6.5 million liters of water per year. This corresponds 

approximately to the daily consumption of a city such as Bad Homburg.

The Green Goal initiative focuses on environment 

protection in football stadiums. It 

is a joint initiative involving DFB, FIFA and

Glanzleistung der Gebäudetechnik: 

„The Squaire“ am Frankfurter Flughafen 

Es ist das größte Bürogebäude Deutschlands. Länger als die 

Frankfurter Einkaufsmeile Zeil, neun Etagen hoch. „The Squaire“ 

heißt das spektaku läre Gebäude am Flughafen. Der Name ist eine 

Mischung aus square (engl. für Karree) und air (engl. für Luft). Die 

kleine Stadt unter einem Dach hat sogar eine eigene Postleitzahl. 

Der zeppelinartige Baukörper steht auf 86 Säulen über dem Flughafenbahnhof, 

den am Tag um die 200 ICE-Züge passieren. 

Im „The Squaire“ befinden sich Büros, ein Business- und Conference 

Center, Geschäfte, Arztpraxen, Restaurants und zwei Hilton 

Hotels mit 600 Zimmern. „New Work City“ werden die weiträumigen 

Büroetagen genannt, in denen rund 7.000 Menschen arbeiten. 

Das futuristische Gebäude mit der riesigen Glaskuppel ist ein Drehkreuz 

der Mobilität, an dem sich Luftverkehr, Schienennetz und 

Autobahn treffen. Über 300 Millionen Reisende begegnen sich hier 

jährlich. Ein Gang verbindet das Gebäude direkt mit dem Terminal 1 

des Frankfurter Flughafens.

Seit 2012 befördert die „Squaire Metro“, eine umweltfreundliche 

Seilbahn, die Passagiere in 80 Sekunden vom Parkhaus über die 

Autobahn zum Hauptgebäude. 

Herausforderung für die Gebäudetechnik 

Die Planer mussten die enorme Dimension des Baukörpers mit elf 

Nutzungs- und Technikebenen ebenso berücksichtigen wie die 

große Nutzungsvielfalt im Gebäude. Vom Bauherren kam die Forderung 

nach einem möglichst energieeffizienten Betrieb. Entstanden 

ist eines der nachhaltigsten Gebäude weltweit. „The Squaire“ 

hat 2012 die „LEED-Gold“-Zertifizierung erhalten, das anerkannte 

internationale Gütesiegel für hochwertige ökologische Gebäude. 

Die vielen LEED-Punkte erhielten die sehr gute Verkehrsanbindung, 

die hohe Wassereffizienz und das energetische Konzept. 

Heizung und Klimatisierung 

Für angenehmes Raumklima in den Innenräumen sorgen eine Bauteilaktivierung 

und temperierte Decken und Fußböden. Allein die 

Heiz- und Kühldecken nehmen eine Fläche von 80.000 Quadratmeter 

ein und wurden für „The Squaire“ zum Teil als Sonderformate 

entwickelt. Die Atrien im Gebäude funktionieren als energiesparende 

Klimapuffer. In die zentrale Lüftungsanlage ist eine Wärmerückgewinnung 

integriert. So wird die Energie vom Heizen bzw. 

Kühlen aus der Abluft der Büros rückgewonnen und der Frischluft 

der Atrien wieder zugeführt. Geheizt wird mit Fernwärme aus dem 

Netz des Flughafenbetreibers Fraport, die an sechs Übergabestationen 

bereit steht. Das Heiz-Kälte-Kraftwerk auf dem Flughafengelände 

versorgt auch die sechs Kälteanlagen. Von rund 

100 Technikzentralen verteilen sich die Medien auf 380 km langen 

Rohrleitungen im Gebäudekomplex. Für eine optimale Hydraulik in 

den weit verzweigten Leitungswegen sorgen drehzahlgeregelte 

Umwälzpumpen, die sich genau an den jeweiligen Leistungsbedarf 

anpassen.

Building systems taken to the limit: 

The Squaire at Frankfurt airport 

It is the largest office building in Germany. Longer than Zeil, 

 

this spectacular building at Frankfurt airport. The name is a hybrid 

from “square” and “air”. This small city under one roof even has 

its own zip code. The building resembles an airship and stands on 

86 columns above the airport rail station through which around 

200 express trains pass each day. 

“The Squaire” contains offices, a business and conference center, 

shops, doctors practices, restaurants and two Hilton hotels with 

600 rooms. The huge office space has been called “New Work 

City” and provides workplaces for around 7000 people. The futuristic 

building with its huge glass cupola is a mobility hub where air 

travel, rail travel and road travel meet. More than 300 million 

travelers converge here each year. A passageway connects the 

 

2012, the “Squaire Metro”, an eco-friendly cableway, transports 

passengers from the parking lot above the freeway to the main 

building in only 80 seconds. 

Challenges for the building systems 

Planners had to take into consideration the enormous dimensions 

of the structure with eleven floors for usable space and building 

systems, plus the huge variety of activities within the building. The 

developers insisted that the building be as energy-efficient as possible. 

The result is one of the most sustainable buildings in the 

world. “The Squaire” was granted “LEED Gold” certification in 

2012, the internationally recognized seal of approval for high-quality 

eco-friendly buildings. Most LEED points were awarded for the 

excellent transport connections, high water efficiency and the overall 

energy concept. 

Heating and air-conditioning 

A pleasant climate inside the building is guaranteed by a combination 

of component activation and, to a large extent, by heating and 

cooling ceilings. They take up an area of 80,000 square meters and 

in some cases were developed as special formats specifically for 

“The Squaire”. The atriums in the building act as energy-saving 

buffers. A thermal recovery system is integrated in the central ventilation 

system. The energy for heating or cooling is recovered from 

the air extracted from the offices and fed back to the fresh air in 

the atriums. District heat from the network of the airport operator 

Fraport is used, supplied from six transfer stations. The combined 

heating and cooling power plant at the airport also supplies the six 

air-conditioning systems. The media are distributed from around 

100 technical centers throughout the building complex via 380 km 

of piping. Speed-regulated circulating pumps which are controlled 

with a high degree of precision according to demand are used to 

ensure optimum hydraulic pressure in the complex network of 

pipes.

Dauerhaft saniert 

Wenn Wasser aus undichten Rohrleitungen 

austritt, entstehen feuchte Wände, modriger 

Geruch und Schimmelbildung. Das Brawoliner- 

Verfahren der Karl Otto Braun GmbH schützt 

vor diesen Schäden. Die wirtschaftliche Sanierungslösung 

ist für defekte Abwasserleitungen 

in den Nennweiten DN 50 – DN 250 geeignet. 

Dabei werden die defekten Rohre von innen 

mit einem harzgetränkten Textilschlauch ausgekleidet. Der Schlauch gelangt mittels Luftoder 

Wasserdruck ins Rohrsystem. Auf das aufwendige Öffnen der Wände und des Bodens 

kann bei der Brawoliner-Sanierung verzichtet werden. Auch Rohre mit Bögen bis 90° und 

bis zu zwei Dimensionsänderungen lassen sich sanieren. Nach dem Aushärten des Harzes 

entsteht ein neues Rohr im Altrohr mit einer Lebenserwartung von über 50 Jahren. 

A permanent solution 

Water leaking from piping that is no longer water-tight results in damp walls, musty smells 

and mould. The Brawoliner process from Karl Otto Braun GmbH protects against such 

damage. This economical renovation process is suitable for faulty drain and sewer pipes 

with nominal sizes of DN 50 to DN 250. The faulty pipes are lined on the inside with a 

resin-soaked fabric liner. The liner is introduced into the piping by air or water pressure. 

There is then no need for the costly and time-consuming task of breaking open walls or the 

ground. Pipes with bends up to 90° and with up to two changes in dimension can be renovated. 

Once the resin hardens there is a new pipe within the old pipe with a life expectancy 

of more than 50 years.

Viega stellt auf der ISH 2013 das Presswerkzeug 

Pressgun 5 vor. Es eignet sich 

für Pressverbindungen mit dem Raxofix- 

System für Heizungs- und Trinkwasserinstallationen. 

Die Pressmaschine ist kaum 

größer als das von Viega bekannte Presswerkzeug 

Picco – und wiegt mit 3,2 Kilogramm 

über 20 Prozent weniger als ihre 

Vorgängerin. Das neue Presswerkzeug 

besitzt Leistungswerte, die sonst nur größere 

Maschinen erreichen: Mit Akku oder 

Netzteil verpresst die Pressgun 5 alle 

Dimensionen von 12 bis 108 mm. Nach

Viega, the installation system supplier presents 

Pressgun 5 at ISH 2013. It has been 

designed for press connections with the

systems for new buildings and renovations. 

Aktiv is a system solution that combines a 

low-profile drainage system with a sensorcontrolled 

pump. The Aktiv series includes 

an ultra low-profile CeraLine Aktiv shower 

trough, the complete CeraDrain Aktiv drain 

and a shower board solution. It offers 

numerous new options for level-access 

showering in existing buildings. Also new 

is the exclusive Tisto series. With low-profile 

drains, short troughs with anchors 

under the flange and a new surface finish 

it can more easily be fixed to screed floors 

and drainage systems. TistoLine is an elegant 

short trough and TistoPrimus a complete

via an integrated room thermostat or control the return

Warmth along 

the wall 

Skirting radiators from IVT are 

ideal in homes where there is little 

or no space for traditional 

radiators or convector heaters. 

These skirting radiators are 

mounted directly on the wall so there is no need to create channels 

within the wall. They heat up the walls on which they are mounted, 

radiating their heat into the room. The package includes a twinpipe 

heating element plus wall panels and cover panels. The radiator 

projects only 30 mm into the room.

Nullenergie- oder Plusenergiehäuser sind 

die Häuser der Zukunft. Bis 2020 wollen 

die Europäer alle Neubauten in diesem 

Standard planen und bauen. Die Vision: 

Häuser sollen mehr Energie produzieren als 

ihre Bewohner verbrauchen. Überschüssige 

Energie speisen sie ins öffentliche Netz 

oder geben es an das Elektroauto in der 

Garage ab. Eine Schlüsseltechnologie dafür 

sind neben der Photovoltaik stromerzeugende 

Heizungen. Für Einfamilienhäuser 

sind Mikro-Blockheizkraftwerke (BHKW) 

stark im Kommen. 

Die kleinsten Geräte der neuen Generation 

– Mikro (siehe Kasten) – sind gerade mal so 

groß wie ein Kühlschrank. Hinter ihrer Verkleidung 

verbirgt sich ein Kraftwerk für das 

Eigenheim. Hinzu kommen meist ein wandhängendes 

Gasbrennwertgerät für Spitzenlasten 

und ein Pufferspeicher wie bei herkömmlichen 

Heizungen. Das Mikro-BHKW 

erzeugt die für ein Ein familienhaus passende 

Wohnwärme und den größten Teil des 

benötigten Stroms. Der Gesamtwirkungsgrad 

für Strom und Wärme liegt zwischen 

80 und 90 Prozent. Im Vergleich produziert 

ein Kohlekraftwerk Strom mit einem Wirkungsgrad 

von 37 Prozent. 

Mikro-BHKW mit Motoren 

Für die private Nutzung im Ein- und Mehrfamilienhaus 

haben sich bisher überwiegend 

Anlagen etabliert, die auf Erdgas 

basieren. Das Gas verbrennt in einem Otto- 

Leistungsgrößen von Mini- und Mikro-BHKW

Das Marktanreizprogramm (MAP) in Deutschland fördert Mikro-BHKW 

mit einem Geldgeschenk von mindestens 1.500 Euro. Die Anschaffungskosten 

für ein Mikro-BHKW liegen zwischen 20.000 und 30.000 Euro. 

Verbrennungsmotor, wie er vom Auto bekannt ist. Er treibt einen 

Elektrogenerator an, der Strom erzeugt. Die Wärme, die der Motor 

abgibt, wird zum Heizen genutzt. Für die Mikro-Anlagen werden 

Mini-Otto-Motoren eingesetzt. Das erste Gerät dieser Generation 

wurde 2011 auf der ISH vorgestellt. 

Neben den Gasmotoren eignen sich auch BHKW mit Stirlingmotor 

für den Einsatz in Einfamilienhäusern. Der schon 1815 erfundene 

Heißluftmotor erlebt im Zeitalter der Energiewende eine regelrechte 

Renaissance. Er kann nicht nur Erdgas sondern auch regenerative 

Brennstoffe wie Pellets oder Hackgut verwerten. Auf der 

ISH 2013 werden neue und verbesserte Stirling-BHKW vorgestellt. 

Angekommen in der Zukunft 

Ein ideales Kleinkraftwerk lässt sich mit der Brennstoffzelle verwirklichen. 

Es arbeitet leiser als die motorbasierten Geräte und 

besitzt eine höhere Stromproduktivität. In der Brennstoffzelle läuft 

auf Erdgasbasis ein elektro-chemischer Prozess ab, bei dem direkt 

Strom und Wärme entsteht. Das Prinzip ist mit dem Elektronenaustausch 

einer Batterie vergleichbar. Brennstoffzellen benötigen keinen 

Generator wie die anderen KWK-Technologien. Verschiedene 

Unternehmen wie beispielsweise Baxi, Hexis oder Vaillant haben 

auf der ISH 2009 schon Prototypen ihrer entwickelten Brennstoffzellen-Geräte 

vorgestellt. Erst Ende 2012 bescheinigte eine Studie 

des ifeu (Institut für Energie- und Umweltforschung Heidelberg) 

den Brennstoffzellen-Heizgeräten das bestmögliche Potenzial für 

Ein- und Zweifamilienhäuser. ISH-Besucher dürfen gespannt sein, 

mit welchen Mikro-KWK-Neuheiten die Aussteller 2013 überraschen 

werden.

Living in a small power plant 

Zero energy houses and plus energy houses are the houses of the 

future. By 2020 the intention is for all new buildings in Europe to 

be planned and constructed to this standard. The vision is that 

houses should produce more energy than their inhabitants consume. 

Excess energy will be fed into the public grid or to the electric 

car in the garage. Key technologies here are photovoltaic systems 

and power-generating heating systems. There is a very strong 

trend toward micro combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) for 

residential properties. 

The smallest units in the latest generation of systems, the micro 

units (see box), are no larger than a refrigerator. Behind their cladding 

is a power plant for the home. In most cases there is also a 

wall-mounted gas boiler for peak loads and a storage tank as with 

conventional heating systems. The micro CHPP generates enough 

heat for a family home and most of the electricity the family would 

need. The overall efficiency for power and heat from the CHPP is 

between 80 and 90 percent. By comparison, a large coal-fired 

power plant produces electricity with an efficiency of 37 percent. 

Micro CHPP with engines 

Up to now, the majority of systems installed in private residences 

have been fueled by natural gas. Gas is burnt in a combustion 

engine similar to the ones used in cars. This drives a generator that 

produces electricity. The heat given off by the engine is used for 

heating. Mini combustion engines are used in micro CHPPs. The 

first unit of this latest generation was showcased in 2011 at the ISH 

exhibition.

In addition to gas engines, CHPPs with 

stirling engines are suitable for use in 

private houses. This hot-air engine was 

invented as long ago as 1815 and is now 

experiencing something of a renaissance in 

this age of renewable energy. It can use 

not only natural gas but also regenerative 

fuels such as pellets and wood chips. New 

and improved stirling CHPPs will be showcased 

at ISH 2013. 

The future is here 

The fuel cell provides the basis for an 

ideal small power plant. It is quieter than 

engine-based systems and offers greater 

productivity in generating electricity. A 

electro-chemical process takes place in the 

fuel cell based on natural gas. The direct 

results of this process are electricity and 

heat. The principle is similar to that of the 

process of electron exchange that takes 

place in a battery. Fuel cells do not need a 

generator, unlike other cogeneration 

technologies. Various companies such 

as Baxi, Hexis and Vaillant presented 

prototypes of their own fuel cell units 

at ISH 2009. At the end of 2012 a 

study by ifeu (Institute for Energy and 

Environmental Research in Heidelberg) 

identified fuel cell heating as 

having the optimum potential for 

family homes. Visitors to ISH can look 

forward to some fascinating new 

micro CHPP products from exhibitors 

in 2013.

The Market Incentive Program in Germany is supporting micro CHPPs 

with a subsidy of at least 1500 euros. The procurement cost of a micro 

CHPP is between 20,000 and 30,000 euros.

The Holiday wood burning stove from Wodtke has been designed 

for modern living. The special geometry of the fire chamber and a 

post-combustion process provide the basis for low-emission heating. 

The really special features are the elegant stove design and a 

filter made from foamed ceramic above the fire chamber. The integrated 

HiClean filter cleans the waste gases so well that there are 

virtually no residual soot particles. The body of the stove rests on a 

solid pedestal and can be tilted through 48 degrees left and right 

so the flames can be seen from any angle.

a Smartphone

This stove is making its debut 

at ISH and is the first stove in 

an elegant smartphone look. The black body holds a silver-grey 

frame with lightly rounded corners. In the middle is the fire door, 

looking like an oversize display. The stove is suitable for burning 

logs, wood briquettes or coal briquettes. The output ranges from 

3.6 to 7.5 kW. The stove weighs 125 kg and measures 1172 x 600 x 

453 mm (height x width x depth).

Das doppelwandige Edelstahl-Schornsteinsystem DWKL von Jeremias passt zu allen 

modernen Heizungen mit Öl, Gas oder Biomassebrennstoffen und BHKW. Das doppelwandige 

und druckdichte System eignet sich für Über- sowie Hochdruckbetrieb und für 

die trockene oder feuchte Betriebsweise. Und nicht nur das: Jeremias hat zusammen mit

aus einer Hochtemperatur-Stahl-Legierung besteht und die umweltfreundliche Keramikfaserisolierung 

überzeugte. 

A flue for all requirements 

The DWKL double-wall stainless steel flue system from Jeremias is ideal for all modern 

heating systems running on oil, gas or biomass and for CHP plants. The pressure-tight 

system can be used in overpressure and high-pressure modes and is suitable for dry 

 

Jeremias has developed the DWKL flue gas system for a high-tech eco-power installation 

in Schlanders/North Italy. This CHP plant produces heat and electricity from wood 

chips using the gasification method. The synthesis gas generator burns wood gas at 

900°C. The DWKL system has proved to be very successful thanks to its high-temperature 

steel alloy flue and ceramic fibre insulation.

Robuster Brenner und

Der tschechische Kesselproduzent Atmos zeigt Neuerungen 

bei den Pelletskesseln der P- und DP-Serie. 

Sie sind jetzt mit einer automatischen Pressluftaustragung 

ausgestattet. Sie kann mühelos an Atmos-Pelletbrennern 

im Bestand nachgerüstet werden. Damit kön- 

nen die 

Geräte ein größeres Spektrum an Pelletsqualitäten 

verbrennen. Eine weitere Erweiterung 

gibt es bei der mechanischen Pelletszuführung. 

Neben dem sonst nur geradläufigen Förderschneckensystem bietet Atmos nun Lösungen 

für Trogaustragung und abgewinkelte Zuführsysteme an. Auch eine pneumatische Pelletsansaugung 

ist jetzt realisierbar. Die Bafa-förderfähigen Pelletskessel eigen sich zum Beheizen 

von Ein- und Zweifamilienhäusern sowie Gewerbebauten mit einem Energiebedarf bis 

30 kW (P-Serie) und bis 40 kW (DP-Serie). 

Robust burner and improved pellet transport 

The Czech boiler manufacturer Atmos is presenting new products in its P and DP series 

of pellet boilers. They are now equipped with an automatic compressed air system. This 

system can be easily retrofitted to existing boilers so they can burn pellets of a wide range 

of quality grades. There are also now further mechanical pellet feed options. In addition to 

the straight-line worm conveyor system, Atmos now offers trough feed and angled feed 

systems. Pneumatic pellet intake is also possible. The pellet boilers qualify for BAFA subsidies 

in Germany and are suitable for heating residential houses and commercial buildings 

with energy requirements up to 30 kW (P series) and up to 40 kW (DP series).

Holzheizen im coolen Design 

Auf den ersten Blick sieht er aus wie ein Kühlschrank im 

Retro-Stil. In Wahrheit verbirgt sich aber unter der mattschwarzen 

Verkleidung ein Holzvergaserheizkessel. 

Vedolux Lambda heißt der Kessel, den der schwedische 

Hersteller Värmebaronen AB entwickelt hat. Den Holzvergaser 

gibt es in drei Ausführungen mit 35, 45 und 

65 kW Heizleistung. Der Wirkungsgrad aller Modelle liegt 

bei 93 Prozent. Die Kessel besitzen eine Lambda-Steuerung, 

die für minimale Rußbildung sorgt. Die Spezialverriegelungen 

und ein intelligentes Steuersystem garantieren 

für Sicherheit und guten Schutz für den Bediener. Zum 

robusten Kessel gehören dicke Verkleidungsbleche, kräftige 

Tasten und Griffe, die einiges aushalten. Für sein cooles 

Design wurde der Vedolux Lambda mit dem Design Plus-

Ofenforum 

Das neue Ofenforum auf der ISH 2013 

ist erstmals ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt 

der deutschen Kachelofenwirtschaft 

(AdK), dem Industrieverband Haus-, 

Heiz- und Küchentechnik (HKI) und 

dem Zentralverband Sanitär, Heizung, 

Klima (ZVSHK). Die Sonderschau in 

Halle 9.2 zeigt anschaulich die energie- 

und klimapolitische Bedeutung 

der Holzfeuerung. Auf dem Messestand 

wird neben der Ausstellung 

und Informationsständen ein Programm 

mit hochkarätigen Fachvorträgen 

angeboten. Sie beschäftigen sich 

mit Technik, Gesetzen und Vorschriften 

für Holzfeuerstätten und Schornsteinsystemen. 

Stove Forum 

The new Stove Forum at ISH 2013 is 

for the first time a joint project by 

AdK (German Tiled Stove Industry), 

HKI (German House, Heating and 

Kitchen Technology Industrial Association) 

and ZVSHK (German Sanitation, 

Heating and Air-Conditioning 

Federation). The special show in Hall 

9.2 highlights the significance of 

wood-burning stoves in terms of 

energy policy and climate change. 

In addition to an exhibition and information 

booths there will be a series 

of high-quality presentations on the 

technologies, legal requirements and 

regulations relating to wood-burning 

stoves and chimneys. 


Wood-fired boilers in a cool design 

At first sight it looks like a retro-style refrigerator but under the matt black cladding is a 

state-of-the-art wood-fired boiler. Vedolux Lambda is the name of this interesting product 

developed by Swedish manufacturer Värmebaronen AB. It is available in three versions 

with thermal outputs of 35, 45 and 65 kW. The efficiency of all the models is an impressive 

93 percent. The boilers feature lambda control to ensure minimal soot levels. Special hatch 

locks and intelligent controls make sure that the boilers are safe and offer good personal 

protection. The boilers have a robust construction with thick cladding and sturdy controls 

and handles. For its cool looks the Vedolux Lambda was presented with the Design Plus 

award powered by ISH 2013.

Luft/Luft-Wärmepumpe der vierten Generation 

Zusammen mit dem Tochterunternehmen Rotex Heating Systems stellt der Klimaanlagenund 

Wärmepumpenanbieter Daikin Europe N.V. erstmals in Halle 8 aus. Zu sehen ist u. a. 

eine VRV IV Luft/Luft-Wärmepumpe, die zwei Neuheiten bietet: eine variable Kältemitteltemperatur 

und einen kontinuierlichen Heizbetrieb selbst während der Abtauphase. Die 

Wärmepumpe arbeitet mit der neuen VRT-Technologie. VRT steht für „Variable Refrigerant 

Temperature“. Dabei wird die Verdampfungs- bzw. Verflüssigungstemperatur im laufenden 

Betrieb an den Leistungsbedarf angepasst. Damit wird die saisonale Effizienz gegenüber 

der derzeitigen dritten Generation an VRV-Geräten um bis zu 25 % gesteigert. Die Wärmepumpe 

VRV IV kann in nur einem System heizen, kühlen, lüften und Warmwasser erzeugen. 

Zum Einsatz kommt sie in Gewerbeobjekten wie Ladengeschäften oder Hotels. 

Fourth generation air-to-air heat pump 

Together with its subsidiary Rotex Heating Systems, the air conditioning 

and heat pump specialists Daikin Europe N.V. are exhibiting 

in Hall 8 for the first time. On display is a VRV IV air-to-air heat 

pump that offers two novel features: a variable refrigerant temperature 

and continuous heating even during the defrosting phase. The 

heat pump makes use of new VRT technology. VRT stands for “Variable 

Refrigerant Temperature”. This ensures that the evaporation 

and condensation temperatures are continually matched during 

operation to the required heating or cooling loads. This in turn 

increases seasonal efficiency by up to 25% compared with third 

generation VRV units. The VRV IV heat pump can heat, cool, air 

condition and provide hot water in a single system. Its main application 

is in commercial buildings such as shops and hotels. 

Water heat pump for 

universal use 

Brötje presents a heat pump that uses 

ambient heat to provide cost-effective hot 

water for baths and showers. The Senso- 

Therm BTW can be retro-fitted to existing 

systems. It can even be combined with a 

photovoltaic systems to make use of solar 

power. The heat pump has a storage volume 

of 300 litres and a coefficient of performance 

(COP) of 3,7. It can maintain a 

storage temperature of 62°C without any 

additional electric heating. SensoTherm is 

available in two versions. The BWT model 

operates in air-circulation mode, whereas 

the BTW S model has an additional heating 

loop. This means it can be combined with a 

boiler or solar heating system.

Neue Generation 

Wärmepumpen 

Die Ecodan-Luft-/Wasser-Wärmepumpen 

hat Mitsubishi Electric vollständig überarbeitet 

und in der Effizienz auf die kommende 

Ökodesign-Richtlinie ausgerichtet. Sie 

erreichen im Stand-alone-Betrieb die Energieeffizienzklasse 

A++. Die Leistungsdaten: 

Der COP wurde um 10 Prozent sowie der 

SCOP um 30 Prozent gesteigert. Die Innengeräte 

stehen als Speichermodul mit Trinkwasserspeicher 

und als Hydromodul ohne 

Speicher zur Verfügung. Die Außengeräte 

sind mit Power Inverter- oder neuer Zubadan-Verdichtertechnik 

ausgestattet. Das 

Fassungsvermögen des Warmwasserspeichers 

ist mit 200 Litern um ein Viertel grö- 

ßer als der Vorgänger. Mit der neuen Regelung 

ist eine serienmäßige Kaskadierung 

der Wärmepumpenmodelle bis zu sechs 

Einheiten möglich. Die Gesamt-Heizleistung 

beträgt dann 138 kW. 

New generation 

heat pumps 

Mitsubishi Electric has completely 

upgraded its Ecodan air-to-water heat 

pumps and tailored its efficiency to comply 

with the imminent Eco Design directive. 

In standalone operation they meet the 

requirements of Energy Efficiency Class 

A++. COP has been increased by 10 percent, 

and SCOP by 30 percent. The internals 

are available as a storage tank module 

with a water tank and as a hydro module 

without a storage tank. The externals are 

equipped with power inverter technology

Hybrid heat pump for high-efficiency houses 

At ISH 2013 Ochsner is offering all its heat pumps as Smart Grid 

heat pumps. These units will be able to communicate with planned 

intelligent electricity meters. The pumps are therefore already 

equipped with the control technology needed for the intelligent use 

of lower electricity tariffs. The new hybrid heat pump from Ochsner is 

particularly interesting for low-energy houses. It consists of a Europa 

323 DK-EW service water heat pump and the separate split units of 

the ELW Vertical air-to-water heat pump, an 

entry model for heating systems. Ochsner

Brennwertkessel mit Internetanschluss 

Der Öl-Brennwertkessel Logano plus GB145 von Buderus ist für die Zukunft bestens vorbereitet. 

Er hat neben moderner Verbrennungstechnik auch das „Internet inside“. Mit 

einem Smartphone oder einem Tablet-PC kann der Betreiber den Kessel von unterwegs 

über die App EasyControl bedienen und überwachen. Möglich macht das die Regelung 

Logamatic MC100, die serienmäßig über einen LAN-Anschluss verfügt und ohne zusätzliches 

Modem über einen Router ins Netz geht. Der bodenstehende Kessel ist mit seiner 

Heizleistung von 15 kW für Ein- und Zweifamilienhäuser sowie Reihenhäuser geeignet. 

Der modulierende Öl-Verdampfungsbrenner im Kesselinneren ersetzt die klassische 

Zerstäuberdüse und kann sich selbst kalibrieren. Öldruck und Luftmenge 

sind so schon voreingestellt, was die Inbetriebnahme und Wartungsarbeiten 

erleichtert. Ebenfalls für eine leichte Montage sorgt das 

geringe Kesselgewicht von weniger als 70 kg. 

Internet inside 

The Logano plus GB145 oil-fired boiler from Buderus is ideally 

equipped for the future. In addition to state-of-the-art combustion 

technology it features “internet inside”. With a smartphone 

or tablet PC you can monitor and control the boiler from any 

location using the EasyControl app. This is made possible by the 

Logamatic MC100 controller which has a LAN connection as 

standard and can access the internet via a router without needed 

an additional modem. The floor-standing boiler has an output 

of 15 kW, making it suitable for a wide range of houses. The 

modulating oil vaporizing burner inside the boiler replaces the 

classic atomizer nozzle and can calibrate itself. The oil pressure and 

volume of air are preset, which makes initial use and maintenance much easier. The low 

boiler weight of less than 70 kg also makes installation easier.

The decentralized heat transfer stations from AEG Haustechnik distribute heat from a central 

heat generator such as an oil-fired, gas-fired, heat-pump or pellet heating system into 

individual homes. AEG has added five different water stations for demand-led hot water 

supply and nine further surface-mounted or flush-mounted versions for heating/hot water 

to its portfolio. 2-conductor heat transfer stations are suitable for one heating circuit and 

one decentralized hot water system. The 4-conductor heat transfer station enables two 

heating circuits with different temperature levels to be connected, such as radiators and

sich Darkan. Der hochtalentierte Künstler aus Kasachstan

un widerstehlich – so präsentiert Alix Dudel die Weltstars des 

Varietés – und sich selbst. Im Stil der klassischen Diseuse

Theater zu sehen.

from Kazakhstan actually flies over the heads of the audience – 

at least using the ropes hanging from the ceiling. Cheeky and 

humorous, emotive, charming and irresistible – that’s Alix Dudel, 

a classic cabaret artist who presents the evening’s world stars

verband Technische Gebäudeausrüstung e. V. (ehemals BHKS) 

sein neues Konferenz- und Ausstellungsforum rund um Immobilien, 

Energie und Technik. Bei der Kombination aus Kongress 

und Ausstellung dreht sich alles um energieeffiziente und 

nachhaltige Gebäude im Nichtwohnbereich. Die Ausstellung 

zeigt, wie Anforderungen an die Gebäudeenergieeffizienz 

erfolgreich umzusetzen sind. Die Vorträge der viertägigen 

Konferenz befassen sich eingangs mit den Perspektiven der 

Energiewende und politischen Rahmenbedingungen für nachhaltige 

Nichtwohnbauten. Im Anschluss stellen Referenten 

aus der Immobilienbranche und Industrie anhand von Best

Award-winning mobile heat 

Mobiheat comes to ISH with two “Plus X Award” winning products, 

the MH150F trailer-based mobile heating system and the 

MH19.2M mobile electric heating system. MH150F is a complete 

system housed in an insulated twin-axle trailer. An oil/gas low-temperature 

boiler, all the hydraulic components and all the safety 

equipment are fully integrated and ready for immediate connection. 

MH19.2M is trolley mounted. It is suitable for emergency 

heating, for work on a heat generator, for frost protection and for

die Suche nach Wärmelecks. Es vereint 

mehrere Geräte in einem. Das VT02 ist so 

komfortabel wie ein Infrarot-Thermometer, 

so aussagefähig wie eine Wärmebildkamera 

und bietet dazu eine ähnliche Bildfunktion 

wie eine Digitalkamera. Durch die 

Kombination aus Infrarot-Wärmekarte und

Improved flue gas temperature monitor 

The flue gas temperature monitor (ATW) from the heatTHERM-AT range from Jumo is 

now even better equipped. The new probe element has an external diameter of 6 mm, 

rather than 4.2 mm as was previously the case. This makes the thermostat considerably 

more robust and suitable for heating. The maximum probe temperature of 600 °C means 

that it can be used in older boiler systems with large variations in maximum temperatures.

buttons to operate it. A self-explanatory user guide and uncluttered status display with

Hottgenroth lassen sich Blockheizkraftwerke 

(BHKW) energieeffizient planen und

Silent stove

silent operation thanks to its “Still” technology. The company 

has developed a special shock absorber for the permanently

from the smoke extractor for even greater noise reduction. 

The stove emits only radiated heat. “Active” technology from MCZ

Genius fire 

For more than 30 years the traditional, Finnish 

family-owned company NunnaUuni has 

been manufacturing high-quality soapstone 

stoves. They give off uniform radiated heat 

with low emissions. At ISH NunnaUuni is 

showcasing lightweight injector fireplaces, 

such as the Genius model. This is an alternative 

for anyone who prefers a woodburning 

stove with modern styling but does not 

want to miss out on the benefits of a classic 

soapstone stove. An injector in the intake 

duct distributes the flue gases evenly 

among four flues in the soapstone. Once 

fired up, Genius releases warmth for more 

than 12 hours. Its rated thermal output is 

2.9 kW, and its emitted thermal energy is 

35 to 40 kWh. The soapstone stove weighs 

535 kg. It is available in “Pure White” as

Weiterentwicklung der VRF-Klimatechnik 

Der Markt für VRF-Geräte, die Alleskönner der Klimatechnik, wird auch 2013 wie bisher 

kräftig wachsen. Die VRF-Systeme von heute sind universelle Lösungen, die nicht 

nur kühlen, sondern auch heizen. Sie ersetzen zunehmend fossile Heizquellen. Dank 

der Optimierung von Komponenten wie Wärmetauscher und Kompressoren erzielt 

die neue Generation der VRF-Geräte eine höhere saisonale Effizienz. 

Further development of VRF air conditioning systems 

The market for VRF units, the air-conditioning all-rounders, will grow strongly in 2013 

as in previous years. Modern VRF systems are universal solutions that can not only 

cool but also heat. They are increasingly being used as replacements for fossil heat 

sources. Thanks to continual improvements in components such as heat exchangers 

and compressors the latest generation of VRF units are able to achieve greater seasonal 

efficiency.

Stromsparende Klima- und Lüftungsgeräte 

Die Ökodesign-Richtlinie der EU-Kommission dient dazu, Produkte umweltfreundlicher 

zu machen. Das betrifft ab 2013 auch die Effizienz der Raumklimageräte und 

Ventilatoren. In den Folgejahren gelten dann noch strengere Werte. Ab 2014 gilt 

diese Richtlinie auch für die zentralen Klima- und Lüftungsgeräte für Wohn- und 

Nichtwohn gebäude. 

Energy-saving air-conditioning and ventilation units 

The purpose of the Eco Design directive of the EU Commission is to make products 

more environmentally friendly. From 2013 this also includes the power requirements 

of air-conditioning units and fans. Stricter values will apply in subsequent years. 

From 2014 this directive will also apply to central air-conditioning and ventilation 

units for residential and non-residential buildings.

next generation technology 

Climate protection and energy savings are inextricably linked, so it 

is hardly surprising that the subject of protecting natural resources 

is the dominant theme of ISH 2013 and therefore the focus for all 

product areas. Savings are particularly important in the HVAC sector 

because HVAC systems account for 15 percent of the worldwide 

demand for electricity. The new Eco-Design directives from the EU 

therefore place strict requirements on equipment efficiency. This 

represents a challenge for the industry and also an incentive to 

develop new products that meet these requirements. In Halls 11.0, 

11.1 and, for the first time, 10.2 the focus at ISH/Aircontec will be 

on sustainability and energy savings. TOP FAIR ISH has put 

together a summary of the latest trends.

Kältemittel 4.0 

Umweltfreundliche Kältemittel sind ein Dauerbrenner in der Branche. Sie sollen 

nachhaltig sein, keine ozonabbauende Wirkung besitzen und ein niedriges Treibhauspotential 

(GWP) aufweisen. Die Forderung nach Nachhaltigkeit erfüllen Kälteund 

Klimaanlagen, die mit natürlichen Kältemitteln wie Ammoniak, Propan oder 

Kohlendioxid betrieben werden. Bei den synthetischen Kältemitteln ist mittlerweile 

die vierte Generation entwickelt worden, die sogenannten HFO (Hydro-Fluoro- 

Olefine). Sie besitzen einen geringen GWP-Faktor. 

Coolant 4.0 

Eco-friendly coolants are much in demand. The new coolants should be sustainable, 

have no ozone-generating effect and a low global warming potential (GWP). The 

requirement for sustainability is met by refrigeration and air-conditioning systems 

that are operated on natural coolants such as ammonia, propane or carbon dioxide. 

The fourth generation of synthetic coolants has now been developed, known as 

HFOs (hydrofluoroolefins). These have a lower GWP factor. 

Kühlen mit Wärme 

Effektiver und sparsamer als mechanische Kompressoren, die mit Strom kühlen sind 

Kältemaschinen, die Wärme als Energielieferanten nutzen. Das Grundprinzip aller 

thermischen Kältemaschinen ist die Sorption, also die Bindung des Kältemittels in 

einer chemischen Lösung (Absorption) oder an der Oberfläche eines Festkörpers 

(Adsorption). Der Sorptions-Kälteprozess verwertet zum Beispiel Abwärme aus 

BHKW und Industrieprozessen oder aus Solarthermie. Das mittels Wärme erzeugte 

Kaltwasser wird dann als Medium zum Kühlen benutzt. 

Cooling with heat 

Refrigeration units that use heat as the energy supplier are more effective and more 

economical than mechanical compressors that use electricity. The basic principle of 

all thermal refrigeration units is known as sorption, in other words the attachment 

of the coolant in a chemical solution (absorption) or to the surface of a solid (adsorption). 

The sorption refrigeration process, for example, processes waste heat from 

CHP and industrial processes or from solar heat. The cold water produced from this 

heat is then used as the medium for cooling.

Particle measurement in food production 

Rentschler Reven Lüftungssysteme GmbH, Sersheim, offers to measure and analyse airborne 

impurities at the workplace in the food production sector. Pollution is measured in 

mg per cubic metre of air in a room. This enables critical work zones with high levels of oil 

mist or aerosols to be identified. The size distribution of the particles is shown in graphic 

form. The instruments detect not only aerosol particles but also vapour molecules as occur 

with open processes and in high-risk areas, such as near boiling liquids, grills, blanching 

lines and fryers. The measurements enable the separation characteristics and performance 

of different aerosol separators and filters to be compared. They are used to verify the 

required filtering performance of air-conditioning systems for acceptance testing and for 

compliance with workplace threshold values.

beträgt der Schalldruckpegel in einem 

Abstand von 1,5 m bei einer Nennluftmenge 

von 343 m³/h 28 dB(A). Die Gehäuse haben

600 und 1.120 mm. Die Wasser- und Stromanschlüsse 

sind laut Hersteller gut zugänglich

developing “AxAir GKH” the company 

focused in particular on creating a low 

noise design. Thanks to a silencer system 

on the outlet side the sound pressure level 

(SPL) at a distance of 1.5 m is 28 dB(A) for 

a rated air flow of 343 m³/h. Depending on 

the model, the enclosure has a width of 

between 600 and 1120 mm. According to 

the manufacturer, the water and power 

connections are easily accessible from the 

side. The entire bottom of the enclosure

elektronische Volumenstromregler „VKE1“ in eckiger

kann. Laut Anbieter ermöglicht dies einen energetisch optimierten Betrieb der RLTAnlage. 

Die Regler haben beleuchtete Klartextdisplays. 

Square volume flow controllers 

Wildeboer Bauteile GmbH, Weener, offers new “VKE1” electronic volume flow controllers 

in a square format. The core component is a differential pressure measurement cell 

that provides accurate control between +/-5% and +/-15% with reference to the setpoint 

volume flow even at low volume air flows. A variable operating mode for control in the 

range from 2 to 8 V ensures reliable opening and closing. The controllers send information 

on damper behavior to a building control system. This compar ed the signals and determines 

whether the fan output of the RLT system can be reduced. According to the supplier, 

this ensures energy-efficient operation of the RLT system. The controllers have an illuminated 

plain text display.

Mit einem neuen Deckenkonvektor zum Kühlen und Heizen erweitert die Stulz GmbH, 

Hamburg, ihr Produktportfolio für die Klimasysteme „KX6“ und „FDS“ von Mitsubishi 

Heavy Industries. Der Deckenkonvektor eignet sich aufgrund der hohen Luftleistungen und 

breiten Fächerung des Luftstrahls für Großraumbüros und weitläufige Verkaufsflächen. 

Der Konvektor hat eine Bauhöhe von 330 mm und verfügt über manuell einstellbare und 

rundum ausblasende Lamellen. Die Wurfweite beträgt bis 6 m. Für die zentrale Steuerung 

und Überwachung steht die „CompTrol-Serie“ zur Verfügung, die mit neuem Zusatzmodul 

Klimageräte ortsunabhängig steuert und überwacht. . 

Ceiling convector and monitoring 

from any location 

Stulz GmbH, Hamburg, has added to its product portfolio for the ”KX6” and “FDS” airconditioning 

systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with a new ceiling convector for 

cooling and heating. Thanks to its high air flow and wide coverage the ceiling convector is 

suitable for open-plan offices and large retail areas. The convector has a height of 330 mm 

and is equipped with manually adjustable blades that blow in all directions. It has a range 

of up to 6 m. The “CompTrol Series” is available for central control and monitoring. The 

new add-on module enables air-conditioning units to be controlled and monitored from 

any location.

Plus“ vor. Das „Plus“ steht für die Ergänzung des bewährten Rundrohrs um ovale Komponenten, 

die aufgrund identischer hydraulischer Querschnitte und Druckverluste beliebig mit 

dem Rundrohr kombinierbar sind. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt liegt im Bereich energieeffizienter 

Lüftungslösungen für Nichtwohngebäude. Das vor zwei Jahren erstmals vorgestellte Programm 

an ECVentilatoren wurde ausgeweitet. Der Hersteller präsentiert neue EC-Axial-Hochleistungsventilatoren 

in einer Bandbreite von 250 bis 500 mm Durchmesser. 

KWL and energy- efficient ventilation 

Helios Ventilatoren GmbH, Villingen-Schwenningen, presents its new low-profile 

“KWL 340 D” ceiling unit for monitored room ventilation with thermal recovery and its compact 

floor-standing units with flow rates of 800 to 2600 m³/h as additions to its range of passive 

house systems. Helios is also premiering “FlexPipe Plus” 

for air distribution systems. “Plus” here stands for the addition 

of oval components to the tried and tested round pipe. 

Thanks to identical hydraulic cross-sections and pressure losses 

these oval components can be used in any combination 

with the round pipe. The company is also focusing on energyefficient 

ventilation systems for non-residential buildings. 

The range of EC fans launched two years ago has now been 

extended. The manufacturer presents new EC axial high-performance 

fans with diameters ranging from 250 to 500 mm.

VRF air-conditioning 

systems 

Remko GmbH, Lage, has added to its product 

portfolio with a range of VRF air-conditioners. 

The units are imported from the 

Far East and given Remko badges. They 

offer cooling outputs of 12 to 20 kW, which 

can be increased by connecting units 

together. Cooling is possible at outdoor temperatures 

as low as –15°C. Up to 16 indoor 

units (wall and ceiling cassette units in different 

sizes and outputs) can be connected 

to the outdoor units. The units can be centrally 

controlled by the “MCC-1” control 

module. Up to 64 indoor units can be individually 

controlled (fan speed, heating, cooling, 

setpoints, operating time displays, service 

parameters and temperatures). Remko 

offers “CheckServ” for commissioning and 

maintaining the air-conditioning systems.
