I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m Free
I’m following the path God laid for me,
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undo grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.
Indiana Uni. fountain
getting a makeover
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) —
Crews are cleaning and restoring
Indiana University’s Showalter Fountain,
a project that includes replacing a
bronze fish sculpture missing for more
than 20 years.
The fountain and sculptures were
installed in front of the IU Auditorium
in 1958, and campus art curator Sherry
Rouse says it needed a makeover after
years of exposure to the elements and
the occasional college prank.
A new fish sculpture was made
based on photographs of the original
by IU faculty member Robert Laurent.
Rouse says it’s believed the sculpture
was last seen before the campus celebration
marking the Hoosiers’ 1987
NCAA basketball championship.
Rouse said the $60,000 project
was finished and the fountain running
again before the residence halls
open on the Bloomington campus for
fall semester.
