2011 Summer Swim Team Registration Packet
Welcome Back! We look forward to a great season at EMAC! We are very
pleased to welcome back Nick Kovacs, Anthony Primelo, Ryan Woltornist,
Kelsey Coates, and to welcome Greg Ritchie as your coaches.
Per Valley Swim League rules, you must have a summer membership with
EMAC in order to join the summer team. The cost to join EMAC is $325 per
family. The cost to join the summer team is $80 for one swimmer and $140 for
two or more swimmers from the same family.
Swimming is a sport that involves a great deal of parental support. It simply
cannot be done without it. At least one parent or other family member is
expected to work at every home meet. We also need between 7 and 10
volunteers to work the away meets (7 timers, diving judge, stroke and turn judge,
and possible table help). In addition, families will be asked to provide food or
beverage for the home meets to support our snack bar. This usually includes
baked goods, pasta salad, condiments for burgers, hamburger buns, cut up fruit,
and of course, EMAC’s world-famous cookie dough.
It is important to realize that our coaches are committed to our swimmers, and as
such, need to be able to coach them without parental involvement. PLEASE do
not go on deck when they are coaching, as this takes away their time from
coaching all of our swimmers. Our coaches have jobs that they need to go to
immediately after practice, so please be cognizant of this fact. If you need to talk
to one of our coaches, work out a time to talk with them at their convenience.
Anthony and Nick will go over how to best communicate with them at the parent’s
meeting (meeting time TBD).
Volunteers
Parent volunteers are needed to make the swim team run efficiently and to help
make this season a success. Not only is it a fun and great way to meet other
parents on the swim team, it’s also a great way to support our swimmers. Please
look over the volunteer form (separate attachment). This must be turned in with
your registration form. Martha Bond has offered to take on the challenging task
of Volunteer Coordinator, and she will make up a master volunteer schedule that
will be posted on the bulletin board at EMAC. If something changes, please let
us know, because we will be counting on you to work in the position you signed
up for.
Snack Bar
Sue Primelo as generously offered to keep her snack bar machine running. Look
for information re: snack bar in future e-mails.
Meet Protocol:
Warm-ups begin at 5:00 PM. We ask that swimmers be at the pool at 4:45.
Meets start at 6:00, and lead off with diving. Swimming generally starts between
6:15-6:30.
Directions to swim clubs are found at the end of the packet.
Meet Line-ups
Meet line-ups are not as easy to make up as you might think. Our coaches need
to take a lot of things into consideration. One thing that is really crucial is who
will be at the meet. In order to get the line-up done in a timely manner (ie, by
the morning of the meet) we ask that you PLEASE fill in the Vacation
Check-off sheets that will be posted on the bulletin board in the lobby. By
cooperating with our coaches, and providing the information they need to make a
line-up that includes everyone, we will be able to get the line-ups completed by
the morning of the meets. These Vacation Check-off sheets are the main way
our coaches know who will be available to swim what meets. These can be
updated as the season progresses, but know that our coaches will be going off of
them 2 days before the meets. I can’t stress this enough: PLEASE keep them
current!! We will do everything in our power to make sure that all swimmers are
given the opportunity to swim in the meets, but if you don’t let us know your
schedule, we won’t be able to accomplish this goal.
Team Suits
A&H is providing our suits this year. They will be at EMAC on Friday, 6/10, from
5:00-6:00 PM. You can either pick up your suit then or go to A&H and get your
suits. This year, the girls will be wearing the printed suit (Soundwaves), and the
boys will be wearing black jammers. The cost is $39 for girls; and $26.60 for the
lycra black jammer and $29.40 for the endurance jammer.
Team Picture
Pittman Photography will be at EMAC on Monday, 6/27, before the Kaybrook
meet. Details to follow.
End of Season Picnic
The picnic will be Sunday, 7/24 at EMAC. By having it before Champs, all
swimmers will have an opportunity to be at the picnic. Details to follow.
Thank you in advance to our EMAC family for your generous contributions and
support. And, of course, a special thanks goes to our coaches and to our
swimmers for their enthusiasm, team spirit, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
sign, go over railroad tracks, and come to your third stop sign. Take a left
onto Main Street, cross over the railroad tracks, and take your first right
Cross 222
Cross Cetronia Road; after you do this, Mill Creek becomes Grange Road
Cross Schantz Road (Sunset Grill is on the left)
Go under I-78, veer to the right at the fork (Rascals and John Deere are on
the left);
Grange Road now becomes Chapman’s Road.
Go through the 4-way stop sign (cross Memorial Road)
Cross the RR tracks
At the second stop sign, take a left onto Russet Roa
The pool is 1/10 th of a mile on your right.
Orchard View Swim Club (OV)
Travel North on Route 309 through Schnecksville. Turn left onto Game
Preserve Road. Landmarks: Slider’s Pub and a sign for the Lehigh Valley Zoo
are on the left, where you will be turning. The entrance for Orchard View is
3/10ths of a mile on your right.
Stonecrest Swim Club
The pool is located on N. 29 th Street and Fairmont Street in Allentown.
