A Tradition of Excellence<br />

For more than 40 years, <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A has set out to “Be America’s best quick-service restaurant.”<br />

As the Atlanta-based restaurant chain has strived to live up to that goal, it has earned some of<br />

the most prestigious <strong>awards</strong> and recognitions in the quick-service industry. These recognitions<br />

have been presented to <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A in honor of its commitment to serving consistent quality<br />

menu offerings as well as the chain’s promise to deliver a positive dining experience. Following<br />

is a list of recent recognitions <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A has received:<br />

• 2010 Advertising Age “Marketer of the Year 2010” Runner-Up<br />

The “Marketer of the Year” award evaluated six companies that made a mark in 2010,<br />

including <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A, Apple, Domino’s, Ford Motors, PepsiCo and Southwest Airlines.<br />

<strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A was selected as one of five runners-up for its steady growth and successful<br />

15-year “Eat Mor Chikin ® ” marketing campaign.<br />

• 2010 Zagat Fast Food Survey’s “Best Value” and “Best Milkshakes”<br />

The Fast Food Survey rates 136 quick service restaurant chains based on over 6,000<br />

diners’ experiences across the country. <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A, Inc. was rated fifth in the category of<br />

“Best Value” and was one of five recognized for “Best Milkshakes.”<br />

• 2010 J.D. Power and Associates Restaurant Satisfaction Study “Top<br />

Restaurant Brands in Customer Satisfaction”<br />

The Restaurant Satisfaction Study rated over 100 casual dining, family dining and quick<br />

service restaurant chains in the area of customer service. Over 93,000 diners were<br />

surveyed. <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A received the top rating in the quick service restaurant category in<br />

Atlanta, Houston and Washington, D.C.<br />

• 2009 Restaurants & Institutions’ “Choice in Chains” Customer Satisfaction<br />

Award (<strong>Chick</strong>en Category)<br />

The “Choice in Chains” <strong>awards</strong> are presented as a result of a national survey of<br />

consumers from across the country who are asked to rate their favorite restaurants by<br />

food category. <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A has received this prestigious award 15 of the past 16 years.<br />

• 2009 American Marketing Association’s Silver EFFIE Award<br />

(Sustained Success Category)<br />

The Silver EFFIE award was presented to <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A for sustained creativity and<br />

effectiveness in advertising for the chain’s “Eat Mor Chikin ® ” Cow campaign.<br />

• 2009 QSR “Best Drive-Thru”<br />

In its 2009 Best Drive-Thru in America Survey, QSR ranked <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A first overall for<br />

the third year in a row.<br />

• 2008 Men’s Health “Healthiest Restaurants for Kids”<br />

Men’s Health recognized <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A as America’s Healthiest Chain Restaurant for Kids.<br />

• 2008 QSR “Best Drive-Thru”<br />

• 2008 Atlanta Corporate Fitness Challenge Winner<br />

After challenging local corporations to an eight-week fitness challenge, <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A was<br />

named Most Fit Overall in this inaugural competition<br />

• 2008 BusinessWeek/ J.D. Power “Customer Service Champs”<br />

Using data compiled by consumer researcher J.D. Power & Associates, BusinessWeek in<br />

March 2008 released its ranking of the best-in-class companies in the area of customer<br />

service. <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A ranked 22 nd overall and was one of only two restaurant concepts<br />

listed (with Starbucks). The company received high marks for putting a premium on<br />

service and for promoting a “family dynamic” (including its “Closed on Sunday” policy).<br />

• 2008 Kaiser Permanente “Most Fit Company in Atlanta”<br />

Kaiser Permanente designed the “Most fit Company in Atlanta” application to promote<br />

health and fitness among metro-Atlanta companies and their employees. <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A<br />

earned the designation “Most Fit Company in Atlanta (100-999 employees)” five years<br />

running, following the inception of its own health and wellness program.<br />

• 2008 Restaurants & Institutions’ “Choice in Chains” Customer Satisfaction<br />

Award (<strong>Chick</strong>en Category)<br />

• 2007 Zagat/ “Today Show” Fast-Food Survey<br />

In the 2007 survey – jointly conducted by Zagat and NBC’s “Today Show” – <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A<br />

ranked first in overall service, as well as first in the chicken restaurant category.<br />

• 2007 Restaurants & Institutions’ “Choice in Chains” Customer Satisfaction<br />

Award (<strong>Chick</strong>en Category)<br />

• 2007 QSR Magazine “Best Drive-Thru In America”<br />

• 2007 Men’s Fitness “Fit 15”<br />

<strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A was named by Men’s Fitness magazine in its assessment of the Fittest<br />

Companies in America – companies that were exemplary in their focus on employee<br />

health and wellness.<br />

• 2007 Kaiser Permanente “Most Fit Company in Atlanta”<br />

• 2007 Advertising Week “Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame”<br />

The <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A “Eat Mor Chikin ® ” Cows were recognized as one of America’s most<br />

popular advertising icons in a vote sponsored by Advertising Week and became the<br />

newest members of New York’s Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame.<br />

• 2006 Restaurants & Institutions’ “Choice in Chains” Customer Satisfaction<br />

• 2006 OBIE Hall of Fame Award<br />

The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) recognized <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A and its<br />

renegade Cows with the organization's OBIE Hall of Fame Award. OAAA presents the<br />

award annually to brands that have displayed outstanding outdoor creative work over an<br />

extended period of time.<br />

• 2005 Restaurants & Institutions’ “Choice in Chains” Customer Satisfaction<br />

Award (<strong>Chick</strong>en Category)<br />

• 2005 Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track “Award of Excellence”<br />

As a result of this independent study of 67,000 fast-food users in 57 markets, <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A<br />

was the fourth-highest-ranked chain overall for customer satisfaction and the highestranked<br />

chicken restaurant chain in the nation. For 2004, <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A earned nine Awards<br />

of Excellence, outscoring all other chicken restaurant chains overall and on eight of the<br />

12 key attributes (including friendliness/courtesy and overall appeal to kids).<br />

• 2004 QSR Magazine “Best Drive-Thru In America”<br />

• J.D. Power and Associates 2004 Restaurant Satisfaction Study SM<br />

<strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A’s overall satisfaction index received the highest ranking in the South by<br />

receiving top ratings in two of the four categories: meal and service.<br />

• Fast Company’s 2004 “Customers First Awards”<br />

In its inaugural “Customers First Awards,” Fast Company magazine recognized <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A<br />

Second-highest-ranked chain overall nationally for customer satisfaction; highest-ranked<br />

The “Eat Mor Chikin” Cows showed their international appeal when they were presented<br />

with the Silver Lion Award at the Cannes International Advertising Festival, the biggest<br />

and best-attended festival worldwide.<br />

• 1996 OBIE Award for Outdoor Advertising (Food Category)<br />

The OBIE Award, which honored <strong>Chick</strong>-<strong>fil</strong>-A’s “Eat Mor Chikin” Cow campaign, is one of<br />

the oldest and most prestigious honors for creative excellence in advertising.<br />
